What can I say? Craig and co, you guys are doing a great job - please keep it up. From the food to the fireplace to the drinks to the live music. This is all secondary to the warm reception and family-like atmosphere at Open...Kitchen. We had a Bacon, egg and cheese rolls Saturday morning. We had a delicious beef stew the Saturday night. Decor in the establishment is very comforting - literally a home away from home. We will be back but this time with more people.More

We were impressed to find a new eatery in McGregor and especially one where a lot of thought had gone into the decor. Nice, looking welcoming. So a little exciting! Was also pleased to find a tapas option, always good when travelling and you get...to the stage where you are not sure what you want! But then disappointing. Perhaps a bad selection on my part, but my veggie tapas all tasted the same and my coleslaw tasted, felt, a bit PnP. The potential is there, hope they can pull it off.More

Travelling in the Breede river valley came off gravel roads and reached the small town /village of McGregor in need of a beer or cup of tea. Clean modern frontage made us stop. Excellent. Very friendly helpful waitress. Varied menu attracted us to the 'small...plates'. Calamari, tempura vegetables and caprese salad as good as any trendy city place. And the loos were immaculate! -spotless! Great find!More

Have had dinner two times. It is not overcrouded and service is informal. First time we had a chicken salad and pan fried calamari. Good. The second time we had a ripeye steak. Tender and well tasting. At the last visit the restaurant had just...got its liqueur licence and served a very good pinot noir that paired the steak good. If you want to mix with locals this is the place.More

Called in for a drink then returned for a meal. Lovely tapas dishes , good size portions. All the food looked good. Friendly staff and good service. It was busy, quite a lot of tables taken, it was a Saturday night.

This is McGregor! Temenos - where we were staying - were having their staff Christmas party so we had to eat elsewhere. - we visited the very friendly information centre - they said no-one would be open because that evening the 'food truck' would be...along - "Oh - just a minute" she called "You are in luck - Open Kitchen will be serving meals - Great place - the menu we chose was a long selection of small single dishes that could be put together to create a meal of your own design. - all were well presented and we had a wonderful evening. Need I say more?More

Our waitress was energised, helpful and attentive. The restaurant has a good atmosphere but we were a little disappointed with the food. The menu is mostly grill-oriented. Ribs were dry, a little tough and sauce had a strong vinegar kick. Seems as though the staff...have good intentions but perhaps they need a little more experience and guidance in the kitchen.More

Super friendly service and good food at reasonable prices. We sat outside on the deck which was great and even our dog was welcome and looked after with fresh water. Would certainly recommend.
