Delicious! We will be back..fresh fresh fresh! Choose from basic poached wggs or omelette and add bacon, mushrooms, fresh tomatoe, laftke ( rosit with potatoe and butternut) feta, cheddar, spinach and grest coffee. All served inside or outside in the beautiful garden. Thank you guys!
A small restaurant in the small town of Mcgregor, a retirement village for artistic people, I think. Here is a restaurant ran by the owner and it seems that he personally does everything. No menu, he prepares a meal or two everyday and surprises you...with whats on the table. In our case we had a choice between fillet and a vegetarian dish, both were excellently prepared with many vegetables, mostly grilled. The fillet was underdone and soft and tasty, well presented. I think this represent the culture of small restaurants in SA and as a South African tourist I am proud of this. Oh and I neary forget, the owner takes NO Tips, as he said he is paying his staff well enough, what a revelation. Next door is an organic shop also worthwhile visiting.More
Glad you enjoyed your experience
Great spot with amazing breakfast. Good value for money and friendly service. Amazing home made bread as well
We visited 51 during an Eskom blackout and despite the electricity being out, Gerard still managed to produce a magnificent variety of eats for us. Fresh Sourdough, latkes, chicken liver and poached eggs, washed down with filter coffee - delicious! This eatery on the main...road has a light, vibey atmosphere. A definite must when visiting McGregor!More
Amazing coffee and great, tasty food portions. One of those places that is owner run and their passion radiates through their food and coffee. Pet friendly too, so expect furry faces while you enjoy your food.
I went for breakfast three times last week at fifty one. It's so far beyond banging it's not true! Highly recommend. Their food is absolutely stellar, the back garden is really nice to walk about in & the staff are super nice. Hands down the...best breakfast place I've ever been! Apparently dinner & lunch there are equally as awesome! Definitely go you won't regret it : ) XMore
Thank you for the glowing report!
I had an amazing lunch at 51. The first thing that attracted me was the gorgeous interior....you can see the owners have impeccable taste! The menu is written on a blackboard so I presume it changes frequently. There were a few options but they made...up an amazing veggie platter for me. They are into all sorts of interesting additions to their dishes and menus like homemade pickled cucumbers, turmeric kombucha and delicious looking baked goods. The owner was also really friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this gem!More
A Monday evening in McGregor and all forty covers in Fity One were taken. the atmosphere was great and the service never faltered. Having a set menu on a chalk board is a great idea for a small restaurant. The set menu saved so much...time. Great that a range of wine is offered from Bemind Garagiste winery 100 metres up the road. The Cinsault suited the Italian menu perfectly. Speaking to the chef afterwards, the style of food may change from week to week - Kashmiri a week earlier, Italian when I was there. He's having fun in the kitchen and it shows. Best gnocchi ever!More
