The farm is accessed via a 5km dirt road from Stanford, about a 40 minute drive from Hermanus. The setting is beautiful, and the whole experience truly exceptional. We started outside, with aperitifs and home made nibbles, and chose from the small-plates menu of 3 starters, 2 mains, and 3 desserts. We chose 3 starters, and 1 of each main and dessert. Moving to the inside area, which succeeds in being both sophisticated and rustic, we were given 2 different amuse bouches and 2 different digestifs in additions. Every single element was created and presented beautifully, absolutely World-class cuisine.
Superb wines from the farm, especially the Pinotage.
We were made very welcome by Susanne, who oversees the restaurant with great ate Timon to detail. Thank you!

My husband and I had lunch at this wonderful restaurant and can only say that this is the best meal that we have had this year in the Western Cape.
The welcome, service, the waiter’s knowledge and then the incredible food, left us feeling that this chef and restaurant should have Michelin stars if they existed here in SA.
We chose the 5 course option which came with several amuse bouches and a wonderful bottle of Springfontein pinotage.
We will certainly return next year and would recommend this place to anyone who appreciates food of this quality.
The drive from Stanford is slightly bumpy on the untarred road but it is worth it.....

What a surprise. You drive through a little town, and then onto a dirt road for a good few kilometres and eventually you arrive at the gate to the Springfontein Wine Estate. This is the last place you expect to get a fine dining restaurant, but fine dining is what you get. The restaurant only seats around 30 people and even though it is in a relatively far-flung location, it was full, and you need to book in advance. Fantastic food paired with wine from the Estate. I would probably not rush to go back, but I thoroughly enjoyed my meal.

Superb, superb, superb! Don’t delay ...just go! Fantastic food........what an experience. Stunning scenery. Excellent service. Gorgeous wines. Cant recommend this highly enough. The very best food we have had in 3 weeks in the Western Cape (& we have had some amazing food)......and I expect it to remain in first position even after the next 3 weeks.
The sorrel soup is simply the most delicious ending to a meal that I have ever tasted.

What a blessing to have a world class chef opening a restaurant here in the Western Cape. It truly an amazing gastronomical experience. We have dined at Michelin star restaurant is Europe but this one stands out in terms of who each dish is plate and the absolute combination of aromas and flavours. Its by far the best restaurant we have had dinner. It beats all the fine dining restaurants in South Africa by far. Its priced well. The same menu will cost you €350-600 in Ibiza. So take your loved one away for the weekend and sleep over as you want to do the wine pairing as well and you can just walk from the restaurant to your room.

From the moment we were met & welcomed at our car we realized this is different to the usual. The Restaurant was fully booked- yet absolute calm prevailed throughout. The food is truly an exquisite experience, the service faultless and the wine is excellent. We have dined at many top SA restaurants and Michelin restaurants in Europe - this was our best meal anywhere. Certainly a step ahead of anyone else - it is done so seamlessly, friendly & efficiently devoid of any arrogance and the wine is really very good too. We highly recommend visiting this restaurant, it is not possible to be disappointed.

On Sunday 8 December 2024 we had lunch there. What an utter disappointment. Service was friendly but inefficient. We had the 7 course option with wine-pairing(R1 200.50 per person.) Upon bringing some amuse bouche to the table the young waitress tried to tell us what it was but then, after starting, said that she was now completely overwhelmed. She hurried off to the kitchen and upon returning said the same! It happened again during our menu. The food was mostly completely without any taste with the exception of the second last course, the cheese course. With that one no crackers were available. In addition the courses were all extremely small portions.
We had many meals there when Chefs Juergen Schneider and Janine van der Nescht was there, but the current kitchen will not see us again. The wine quality was acceptable. There are far better dining options in Stanford.

The other reviews are all more than a year old but we decided to take a chance. We only realised that the restaurant was not in Hermanus when our taxi left Hermanus and driver explained the cost to get there. It is in Stanford, a town which is 25km by road, plus another few kilometers of unpaved farm road beyond that. In addition, the driver was not going to wait there for a few hours, and we would not get a taxi back to Hermanus. There are many restaurants listed in Stanford, a completely different area. This is an incorrect or dishonest listing, and we nearly got caught out.

Wanted to eat here already last year, but they were fully booked. So this year we tried again. Beginning of December had lunch here. The weather was nice and sunny so we sat outside on the terrace.
The meals were fine, but the ambiance was not so. Lots of flies around our plates. Not very nice.
Poor garden and herb garden.
Inside the restaurant looks better.

We recently had a lovely nights stay here as a stop of before heading to hermanus. The room was gorgeous and the staff were all exceptionally helpful and accommodating. We even managed to squeeze in a lovely walk through the grounds. We will definitely be back!

8 course tasting menu with wines. Exquisite tastes and presentation from very knowledgeable staff. Too difficult to choose a favourite course. My food intolerances were well taken care of.

We ate at Springfontein Eats and slept at Springfontein Sleeps and we could hardly have chosen better.
"Eats" created dishes of the highest quality - fresh, interesting, delicious, imaginative - all were beautifully presented by staff who were charming, polite and attentive without being at all intrusive.
After dinner, we did what its name promises - we slept - very peacefully.
We would urge you to make the journey whether from Europe or South Africa - you will not be disappointed.

Incredible food & service. Great value for money versus quality & inventive dishes. Excellent vegan dishes for our vegan guest without a fluster.
