If you have any sense of humour, don’t speed past. Stop and visit. It would be best experienced if you had a local Afrikaans speaking person with you. It’s quirky, authentic and odd. A short description of what you will discover there; the republic of R.O.A.R, Ostriches in trousers, Tiny Town next to a faerie garden, lots of kind of kitchy cement pots, succulent plants, impressive antique tractors, a corner with farm animal skeletons, lots and lots of die cast dinky toy vehicles, the worlds biggest knitted jersey, very friendly local people, lots of laughs and photo opportunities and a genuinely fun experience you will find difficult to explain to your friends. The restaurant serves excellent roadside cafe type food. As I said, stop there. You are gonna love the laughs.

Had a burger. The best burger I have ever eaten on the N2. Please visit this restaurant on your route to Cape Town or the Garden route. They also serve the best milkshakes

The quirky life-sized sculptures of crazy ostriches gives you a foretaste of what to expect at this venue; although there is a restaurant, we were more interested in the museum. There is an impressive array of die-cast vehicles - -all of them related to the farming industry, there is the world's biggest jersey... Guinness record accredited, knitted by local tannies, a train layout with an amazing attention to detail, and of course, the tractors! Then the adults with children will have to brace themselves for the Fairyland experience - not for the faint- hearted... Tiny Town, the Tin Shed and a succulent nursery complete the show. And all of this in a plattelandse dorpie!

The food was good even though waiting more than 40 minutes, 30 min for our coffee. If you are not in a rush, do stop for the experience.

Driving en-route to albertinia to stay over at the Voelroepersfontein retreat a windmill in the distance caught our attention, so we decided to Stop at this roadside treat for some lunch. The property is a feast for the senses as there`s not only the restaurant, but a museum that houses tractors, mini die cast cars and the wholes biggest jersey ever knitted and this is featured in the guiness book of records. Tuinplaas also houses a nursery, gift shop and fantasy land where families with kids can browse freely and immerse themselves in the fantasy world created by tuinplaas`s residents artists. This is well worth a stop over as the food is delicious and service is of acceptable standard.

I have driven past this place a few times, but had never bothered to stop before. On my latest trip, I stopped to see what it was all about, and to have a cup of tea. The museum was amazing, completely different to what I expected, and a lot of fun! The ostrich museum was fun and interesting, the tractor museum also so interesting, but the highlight was the collection of miniature vehicles! Well worth a stop over to just chill and look!

We loved the old farm-kitchen atmosphere, friendly service and good food. The clincher is the tractor museum next door!

Stopped for a quick look and left two hours later. A new gem and discovery around every corner. Good old style farm food. A small tractor museum can be found. Staff are very friendly.

Few places that has their products come out as advertised and they got their milkshakes on point. Loved the bubblegum, would definitely try the coffee one next time. Perhaps an idea of a blueberry milkshake for future? A must stop on the long road

Who knew that you will be able to find a interesting place to spend a couple of hours in Albertinia of all places. The food was good, the coffee unfortunately not so much. Do spend some time browsing the nursery and museum next door. Well worth a stop when driving through Albertinia.

We were attracted from the N2 by the quirky Sculptures that surround the Cafe. We were further drawn in by the beautifully set out Gardens , the unusual selection of garden Pots and the unique Cathedral gardens. The Cafe is rustic/basic but full of character. Service is warm, friendly and attentive. Menu is limited but the food was delicious. Not at all what we expected but well worth the detour.

The N2 on a Sunday at month end is somewhat similar to the movie Rollerball , stick your arm out the car window and you could lose it! Desperate for something to eat we stopped off at this roadside landmark just outside Albertina. The decor is a time stopped 60's wood chip farm yard and a welcoming open air seating area. All the food on the menu is home cooked so be prepared to wait for it , it's worth it. I had the cheese burger , classic recipe including the pickle and toothpick and probably the best I have had this millennium!! Everything including the bun is produced on-site. My wife had the Lasagne and salad served with a homemade roll and preserves ! It was also delicious and filling. The coffee was classic "Americano" style and strong enough to get you to the end of the journey. The staff are friendly and efficient and very knowledgeable about the area , this classic road house Oasis is highly recommended!

Do yourself a favor and stop at Tuinplaas next time you visit Albertinia. Ask for Jeff and let him take you through ROAR (Royal Ostrich Ancestral Republic) with tongue in the cheek commentary on current world affairs! The miniature car display which is around 8000 is also amazing!
