We stopped at Veranda Cafe for lunch on our way back from Ballito as we have heard it is great! The cappucino was one of a kind perfectly made the way we ordered, then we ordered the "Gourmet sandwich" a must must with chicken mayo,...cheese and bacon! Was so tasty and we will definitely suggest it for anyone in the area
Bonus is the gift shop at the nurseryMore
I was a little surprised when my friend that I was staying with in St Lucia suggested we stop for a coffee in Mtubatuba after visiting parcel service shop. Having driven through the dusty town on my way to St Lucia I could not think...of anywhere more unlikely for a 'nice coffee'. But she was right tucked away near the busy intersection is a lovely little garden with a lovely but tiny coffee shop adjacent to the gift shop. It was indeed a pleasant place to stop especially as the coffee was excellent as was toast. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. If you cannot wait to get to St Lucia for a good coffee then stop off at the Verandah.More
For mtubatuba this is the ideal place to come for coffee and a snack however it's far from a restaurant. It's a garden centre let's say with a coffee shop. That being said it's a beautiful little place to drink coffee and spend an hour....There is complementary wifi which isn't common in South Africa especially in such an area.
There is a swing for kids too,More
On the strength of previous reviews, I'd picked out the Verandah Café as a lunchtime stop on the long drive from the Coastal Forest Reserve to Umhlanga. It's not much of a detour from the highway making it an ideal stopping off point; the location...in the garden centre creates a lovely atmosphere.
We were the only guests when we visited but were welcomed in. The menu offered exactly the sort of food we needed at lunchtime - sandwiches, toasties, ciabattas, salads, quiche etc. Given the lack of customers, I thought some of our choices might be unavailable but not at all. We tried a range of these between us and we all enjoyed our choices. Service was friendly and the ladies who run the café are obviously proud of their growing reputation and were keen for us to add to their growing comments book.
The key to the toilet is available on request.More
