Lovely place for a chilled lunch. Beautiful view over Crystal Bay. Excellent meal and drink choices. Great tunes playing for a lazy afternoon. Highly recommended

Stinky Death Trap

After seeing reviews for this place we decided we had to try it out. Finding it from the beach was an easy process, however if you wanted to make your way there from the main road the assistance of a Sherpa would be required as...there is no signage whatsoever. We only ordered a Chang each (80 bht each), Spring Rolls (3 to a plate, cut in halves, 130 bht) and Chicken Skewers (4 on a plate, 140 bht) so we cannot really comment on the food much, except to say the menu seemed to have a good array of food (mostly Thai but also a choice of Burgers / sandwiches / fries ect). Service was average but still friendly. We were welcomed, seated and once our order was received the waiter did not hover over us. The view, I must admit, was nothing short of spectacular. The two major concerns we found were the smell and the condition of the place itself. On the beach there was no smell other than the sea (and the place is directly ON the beach), however as soon as we stepped into the establishment the stench hit you like the proverbial slap in the face with a rotten fish. It was bad enough at our table so I can only imagine what it was like from within the kitchen. As for the condition of the restaurant itself the one word that keeps coming to mind is condemned. Both main entrances to the deck were extremely unsafe and quite simply unfit for use. I know Thailand often goes by the motto of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" but this was beyond anything we had ever come across before. I was torn between fearing the deck would collapse out from under us and dreading a strong gust of wind sending the roof crashing down upon us. In closing, I do not believe we will be returning and I would not recommend anyone to visit unless conditions drastically change.More

Beachfront restaurant

After seeing lots of positive reviews, stopped for a lunch in Zenzibar restaurant. The view from the restaurant is amazing as it is right on a lovely Maenam Beach and you can see Koh Phangan in the distance. The food however was average and a...bit overpriced ( due to the location) I guess.More

It was okay

We tried this place for our first meal but it was average. Prices were more expensive than most other restaurants in Mae Nam. One member of staff only seemed to be operating the whole place so he wasn't always around to help.

Great Food - sitting only meters from the Sea

We enjoyed two meals at Zenzibar, sitting on the deck overlooking the sea. The location can't be faulted, and we equally enjoyed the view and activities on on the water, both at Sunset and for lunch. This is good value, with a range of Thai,...Western and fresh seafood. The location right on the beach is suitable for all ages, from small families, teenagers to young at heart. Pop the waiter is fantastic, and one of the reasons we enjoyed coming back (along with the seafood. Pop provides true customer service, with his big smile and a 'Manuel' (aka Faulty Towers) performance, he works hard to ensure all the clients enjoy their time at Zenzibar. Zenzibar is an experience, and one of the highlights from our trip to Koh Samui. In fact, we enjoyed the best dish here, from our trip to Koh Samiu. The Prawn Dish with Garlic and Pepper was absolutely delicious. It was so good, we ended up ordering more of this dish on both occasions. Zenzibar is not a fancy restraurant, fairly rustic, but it is certainly a place to relax, enjoy the food, and have a drink with friends or family overlooking the sea. Enjoy!!!More

Very disappointing

One employee performed as the bartender, the waiter and the chef. Naturaly, the food took a lot of time. allthough he was nice and kind, the food was tasteless. Prices are rather high - not reccommended.

Lovely

We had a fantastic early dinner here overlooking the beach. Lovely food & excellent service. Certainly worth a visit.

Perfect dining by the sea

Had three great meals at this little restaurant within walking distance from our villas. Had the 99baht cocktails most nights which were great along with Thai food, either pad Thai or currys, all food was great and very reasonably priced. Staff attentive to your needs...but not pushy. We liked it here as deck was at great level to watch what was happening on the beach or out on the water. Would definitely return again. We loved Maenam beach.More

Hi, I have just seen this question, so sorry for the late response. I have no idea about opening hours, or taxi. Were you only in Koh Samui for 1 afternoon? Not enough time.
