Nanaga Farmstall & Restaurant, Kirkwood - Menu, Prices & Restaurant Reviews

We sat down at the restaurant only to discover that most on the menu (mainly pies and roosterkoek) is the same as the takeaway food available next door at the farmstall. We waited more than 30 min for our pies (we could have got them...in less than one minute at the farmstall) and had to chase the waitress to fetch them for us (when we could see them sitting waiting in the kitchen). The steak pie was good, Cornish pie with minced meat not so good. Coffee was good. Next time we will get takeaway food and coffee at the farmstall instead and sit at tables in the garden.More

Always good produce - roosterbrood,

Always good produce - roosterbrood, pies, pineapple juice all good! Was surprised at lack of COVID care. “No mask. No entry” is enforced but there is no sanitization or social distancing inside.

New chicken restaurant next to filling station

Nanaga is always a great place to stop just outside Port Elizabeth on the East London side. A new filling station with some food places was recently added so I decided to try out the chicken place. What a terrible disappointment! The place was clean,...however food was served in a polystyrene container with plastic knifes and forks, Now in today's day and age with the war on plastic you would at least expect to get your food served on non cancer causing plates with a decent knife and fork. I ordered a chicken burger which was beyond horrible; the chicken was bone dry.....served at room temperature ....definitely not freshly made! I ended up eating it with my hands as the fantastic cutlery provided wouldn't even penetrate the dry and hard chicken burger......... At the till no till slip/ receipt; the display on the cash register not working, so no way to check if the price is correct. There is a sign to contact Johan with complaints or suggestions; something I duly did. Needless to say; there was no reply. So my advice to you is go and stop at Nanaga, the rooster brood is fantastic but for Petes sake don't go to the new chicken food stall .....More

The pies are legendary

If your driving to or from Port Elizabeth, from the East London side, make it a point to stop off here and make sure you try the pies.

Consistently good

Nanaga never fails to please, everything you eat or buy is good, freshly prepared and delicious. Stopping there is quick & easy and they now also have a petrol station.

superb farmstall for roosters

cool popular farm stall with well known tasty rooster brood, and pies and cooldrinks They also have a restaurant , but the takeaway/shop is most popular for all travelling between Grahamstown and PE,Cradock,Addo etc. The new petrol station is very convenient, but the shop attached...to the petrol station does not have the same tasting roosters, but is still a very nice shop , and then the fried chicken and chips place - food not good ,chips bad and chicken below average, and then also a fruit vendor,so lots to choose from!More

Stop over

Over commercialised now. The old Nanagas was always a treat. Lamb knuckles and samp or Pies were always good and affordable. Far too expensive now. We tried Nanagas Chicken for the first time and that has become my all time favourite now even affordable. Chicken...really nice and juicy. Flies over at the childrens park was a real irritation as was our grandsons ball rolling in dog poop. I think Windfarm ultra stop is going to be the opposition. Pies lovely and buttery.More

A convenient stop!!

Always an convenient stop when travelling North, North East from Port Elizabeth. Like to enjoy a sausage roll and some pineapple juice. When it's a sit down, it will be poe, gravy and chips. I believe their "roosterbrood" is really on the rise and doing...so well for them. Cheers guys!!More

As a stopover on a drive south we needed some lunch. This was the ideal stopover and a variety of foods/snacks were on offer.

A very Convenient place off the Highways

A very convenient spot on your way from port Elizabeth to Grahams town. The stall is well located with easy road excess and has a wide variety of nibbles snacks and convenience to choose from, products from the bakery is a must !
