We came in for coffee and cakes as a family of 5. They went out of their way to accommodate us. The service was great, friendly and swift. The apple cake was to die for! Hopefully we will squeeze in another visit before we finish...our holiday.More
We wanted somewhere for a morning coffee and a snack, in lieu of breakfast. Looking in through the window, we were impressed that we could see that efforts had been made for good separation of tables, in such a small place, by hanging transparent screens....So in we went.
We were initially very impressed with the Covid arrangements. In addition to the screens, the waitress was masked and there was hand sanitiser, as one would expect, and our temperatures were taken also. (Although we late realised that no-one had taken our contact details for track and trace purposes.) So we sat and gave our order of two Cappuccinos, a bacon bap and a toasted tea cake.
There was only one other table in the café occupied at this time, with a family of four. So whilst it seemed to take a little while to get our coffees, we were even more surprised that it took so long for our snacks to be served. So long, in fact, that my wife had long finished her coffee and I had to ask whether they would be much longer. And when they were served, the man from the kitchen who brought my bap, was wearing neither a mask nor a visor! My wife's tea cake was Ok, although we do wish that more cafes would put a bit more butter with them; two small portions is really not enough. But my bacon bap was rather strange. I was warned that the plate was very hot, and it was, but so also was both the bap and the bacon in it. To the extent that the bacon would burn your mouth! It was far hotter than one would expect just from being freshly fried or grilled, and I can only think that the whole thing was probably zapped in the microwave on the plate.
Not at all impressed!More
Lovely cakes. Lady in shop was really friendly. We had two slices of cake and some caramel shortcake. All were really tasty and sold at value prices. Well worth a stop if in the area. Highly recommended.

Thank you for your nice comments. Yes the Caramels are very popular and made in-house.
We visited on a wet windy day after a trip to Hurst Castle. We were warmly welcomed and seated by the window behind a clear safety screen separating us from other diners. We had a ham and brie panini and a prawn baguette, both came...with a side salad and we're absolutely delicious. Sadly we had no room for a cake but we're very tempted. There was a steady stream of takeaway orders and all tables were full and we could understand why after we visited. Would definitely recommend Polly's to others visiting the area.More

Hello. Thank you for your great review. It was lovely to meet you. Thanks for choosing Polly's. We look forward to seeing again.
Whilst on holiday my husband and I stopped off for a Hot Chocolate ‘with all the trimmings’ hopeful for luxuriousness from a village tea room. However this was far from reality. Firstly ALL the trimmings were unavailable (cream/marshmallows/flake) The hot chocolate itself was made with...water (yes water) and it was extremely weak with a little frothy milk spooned on the top to try and make it look good. Very disappointing.
Staff were all friendly, I can’t comment on the food as we didn’t eat there. The place itself was clean albeit a little dated. No hot water in the lavatory for hand washing.More
My daughter, grand-daughter and myself visitied this establishment on Saturday afternoon 22nd. The staff were very friendly and efficient and we were seated in the window table after it had been thoroughly cleaned.
My daughter had a cream tea which looked fresh and plentiful, which...she couldnt eat in one go and they kindly boxed up what was left so she could eat it later on that day. I had a caramel shortcake which was the thickest and biggest one i had ever seen and tasted wonderfull.
The teas and ice cream which my grand daughter had were delicious too. In all a lovely experience which we will repeat when we are in the area again.More

Very welcoming staff. Best prepared café for CV19 precautions I’ve seen. Saftey screens decorated in homely way, with flair. Excellent Americano coffee.

Thank you very much for your nice review. Yes we have worked hard to make the place safe for both customer and staff but still welcoming. It was nice talking to you. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Not the best. Waited ten minutes before getting served and I was second in line. The girls in there kept wandering off away from the shop front. Wasn’t welcoming - people ahead of me had to ask if they were serving to which the response...was “if you let me do this I’ll be with you” (did not seem bothered that there was a line of customers) baring in mind they had 2 people sitting down and eating so wasn’t exactly busy. I was told that it would take 15 mins for 2 tuna baguettes, went back after 15 mins and food still wasn’t ready. Had to wait another 10 mins for it to be done. There was way too much mayo in the baguette so you couldn’t even taste the tuna. Won’t be going back there.More

Thank you for your review. You mention a visit sometime in August. This vagueness makes it difficult to identify the day and which members of staff were working to identify if there was an issue and to respond. During these covid times it is difficult...More
