We booked dinner for Friday night, we were lucky to get the last table so do book ahead. It was very busy and took us a little while to place our drinks order, however that was the only delay. The wine list is reasonable, and...the food excellent, particularly the desserts. The takeaway deli is also recommended for a picnic lunch.More

I had lunch yesterday at Ray’s - the service was good and the food delicious as always. It was so lovely to back in such a wonderful restaurant. We shared a lite bite - bruschetta as a starter and followed by an Italian sandwich and...fries. Everything was extremely tasty and good value for money. I highly recommend Ray’s to anyoneMore

On Saturday evening, thirsty and hungry we had (of course) booked the alfresco rear courtyard: a delightful setting albeit a little chilly even with the heater - so coats on. We too had issues booking the day before (Phone message a little rambling before cutting...off, email never sure as no response) so simply stuck our head in the door the following morning at 09:30hrs where a polite lady grabbed the Good Book ... paused with eyes down... before confirming indeed there is space out the back for two male dodgy walkers! Happy now we had a prize we marched forth to Mudeford Quay. Arriving back- a little early - despite detours due to erosion of Cliffs and a Holiday Park in the way - we sat out front of Rays supping chilled Peroni (What Else!) - watching a parade of cars cruise by which is surprisingly entertaining - before heading to the back court yard to be seated. The service was excellent and in this day an age thats something worth stating: there were plenty of staff to take orders, check and ask if you needed anything else and the place was a hive of activity of well dressed diners, early evening family suppers, dogs and waiting staff all getting on with an air of knowing. For starter we both had the Mackerel Pate (simple / how I make it myself) so was excellent and for main we both had the meatballs in spaghetti: we did walk to Mudeford Quay and back so know time to read the menu and these were the specials. This is the only reason why im not rating Rays as excellent: the spaghetti sauce was too sugary and although its a personal thing (taste) I spent many summers in Sestri Laventa as a kid and have never lost the taste for Italian Food: that and The God Father Movies! So what Im saying is this place is a wonderful oasis of old school service, great value food, a place for a quite intimate evening for two or dog tooting uber-couple Tabatha and Tarquin (kids in tow) where your made to feel welcome and looked after with a smile: even if you are two badly dressed ruck sack carrying walkers on the wrong side of 50. If Cesar was alive he would definitely drop in for dinner!More

The takeaway service is shocking. It says to call before 7pm to book. I call at 1pm and get told to call back at 6:30pm because it’s too difficult to take the order earlier. I call back at 6:30 on the dot and no one...answers. I call repeatedly for 30 mins but no one answers. Someone finally picks up at 7pm and tells me we can’t order because they are booked upMore

During lockdown we have availed ourselves of their online ordering system mainly on Fridays. Always worked well until Friday 14th May which was to be their last night of their online ordering. You could however still phone your order through and presumably get the same...level of service. By the end of the week we have always run our household food supply to its minimum, relying on our Friday night pizza to fill the gap. As usual, and aware that it was supposedly their last night for ordering online, I looked for the link. It had gone. No worries, I will phone my order through. 10 times I rang, maybe more. My wife must have phoned half a dozen times from her mobile just in case our household phone was o the wonk. Each time it was engaged. We both tried over a period of more than an hour without success and never got through. No recorded message from the restaurant of any kind telling what the state of play was. I was fuming. We have had this problem before lockdown, surely they must have realised by now that something needed to be done. We had to take out the bread and water in the end...More

Sorry John you felt we let you down, we can be very busy when back in service and only have one phone line so can understand it can be frustrating when we're busy.

Nice coffee and very friendly staff. Visited in the morning so can’t comment on dinner options, but everything on offer looked lovely, including some classy lunchtime salad selections. Will be back, soon.

Incredibly authentic pizza from this little restaurant in Milford on Sea. We ordered for collection although if you plan in advance you can book a delivery. Pizzas were excellent (thin crust, perfect toppings) and we have a tomato and onion salad which was lovely. Quality...use of ingredients.More

Jean and I went for an early meal (6.15 pm) last week. We had the most excellent food...Jean's veggie pizza and my penne arrabiata...perhaps one of the best I have ever had. toped by a sprinkling of mixed herbs I think..superb. Starters of gamberi (for...me), mushrooms for Jean..again excellent. The service from the very helpful waitress was top class and the beers and wines great as ever. All round a first class meal which we expect at Rays. If anything we had to wait a long time between courses and I think it was because they were doing takeaways and perhaps did not have adequate staff. Its difficult to judge this I know but I think there needs to be a better plan ,particularly perhaps earlier evenings. It dragged out the evening too much really We will be aware of this for the future...but it won't put us off going..this time.. Thank you all. Terry and Jean Langford. Milford on Sea.More

Did not actually get to try the food in Ray’s, which is a shame. Wanted to use the takeaway option to feed 4 adults and 5 kids. This place is really not geared up for takeaways. Could not get through on the phone so went...down to the restaurant to order 6 pizzas. When I arrived at approx 6.30pm they said they would be ready around 7.45pm - 8pm. I thought a 75 minute minimum wait was A bit excessive! The answer I was given was that they were v busy. This is fair enough, but if you are marketing yourselves as a takeaway as well as a sit down you need to be getting food out of the door in half the time. This is not a slight on the food, just the service of the ‘takeaway’ option. You need to know a long time in advance that you fancy a pizza in this establishment.More
