One of those places that have now become rare with few places and with a warm and ancient style like the taverns of the past. The name recalls Joachimism, that is, it leads back to the flows of thought born and shared by Gioacchino da Fiore on philosophical and religious currents. A truly ideal name for this place where you can become thinkers and concentrate your thoughts in a collected and relaxed way to arrive at a choice on a menu made up of proposals, one more inspiring than the other. The welcome of Giulio, the owner, and his children immediately shows the exquisite, genuine and familiar hospitality of a real tavern. We immediately start looking at the menu written in chalk on a blackboard hanging in the room (photo) which already seems to invite us to raise our gazes and thoughts as Gioacchino da Fiore would do if he were sitting there with us. After listening to Giulio's advice we start with a series of appetizers, cured meats, typical cheeses, grilled vegetables and meatballs and other typical delicacies. (Photo) We then took the Donna Giovanna Ravioli with porcini mushrooms (photo) and truffle tagliolini (photo) as first courses. Undaunted and enticed by the passage of so much meat among the other few nearby tables, we decide to take it too, so we proceed with a nice, slightly seared fillet, finished then serving with a final pass of a few seconds on a hot stone directly at the table in front of us (photo). Satisfied and satisfied, a final treat with tastings of limoncello, liqueur and homemade herbal beloved. If I hadn't had to drive I would have finished all three bottles brought to the table with gusto. (Photo) Hospitality and kindness, exquisite dishes and average prices around €30 per person for a mixed starter, fillet and a few glasses of wine, depending on what else you take, bitters offered on the house. The Gioachimita tavern is certainly a choice to be recommended and discovered among the streets of San Juan in Flower ^_*

In December, while I was wandering around the characteristic San Giovanni in fiore, we came across this splendid tavern with a rustic and welcoming appearance. From the beginning they made us feel like family by delighting us with excellent dishes of the typical local cuisine. Always fast service and with great attention to the customer. The quality is great and the price is more than fair. I highly recommend trying this splendid place where you will certainly have a good time.

This inn leaves you with a pleasant feeling of well-being: the welcome given to us by the owner was superb for his availability in making us feel at ease at the table, for the professionalism in the presentation of the dishes, for his ability to advise us in choosing the Calabrian cuisine dishes. Obviously, applause also goes to his lady, the restaurant's chef, for the dishes based on porcini mushrooms and truffles that we tasted among the excellent appetizers and tasty first courses. The wines offered are good and the pittula 'pigliata, a typical Calabrian Christmas dessert, is excellent. In addition to recommending it, we intend to return. Thanks for the evening.

Warm welcome. Characteristic environment, typical of the historic center gioacchimita. Impeccable service. The sympathy of the owner, Julius Caesar, is engaging, puts his guests at ease and knows how to advise in the choice of food, mainly based on silane delicacies. The conclusion of lunch was based on homemade desserts, made by the Lady of the restaurant. La Taverna del Gioacchimita I recommend it to everyone, especially tourists who want to delight their palate with local specialties. Francesca Gallo

The food is good and typical of Sila. The menu changes depending on the day. There is local wine, even in bottles. This place is in the historic center, in the abbey square. In summer there are seats outside and the atmosphere is pleasant. The owners are a couple - the wife is the chef and the husband comes to the tables. They are always available. Prices are reasonable. We go there from the US and return every summer. I recommend booking at the weekend.

A very intimate but welcoming place, among the narrow streets of a village it seems difficult to find but with the kindness of the locals, it is easy to reach it. The staff is exquisite, a family-run business that guarantees delicacy and taste in the dishes. Above average food with local products treated with balance without forced combinations. P.S. I recommend the panna cotta for dessert. Experience to be redone!

La Taverna del Gioacchimita was the result of a careful cross-research between sites and reviews. And they were all right The excellent raw material The transformation respectful of tradition The welcoming family atmosphere, which makes you feel like a guest of long-time relatives or friends. There is no better place to experience all that Sila has to offer in one night.

highly recommended!! At the suggestion of some friends I finally decided to go to this place for dinner. fantastic place located in the historic center, Mr. Giulio is very nice as well as kind and hospitable. We decided to try almost everything, from hot/cold appetizers (the chickpea cream is divine), 2 first courses and a nice cut of grilled meat. Only the dishes returned to the kitchen (you didn't even have to wash them, they were shiny given the countless shoes made with each dish) absolutely exceptional. nothing to say about the price either, we will definitely return because it was a wonderful discovery.

If you pass by the beautiful village of San Giovanni in Fiore you can not miss the Taverna del Giocacchimita. We were greeted by the owner and family and it was as if we already felt at home. Obviously to try the potato pie with mushrooms and the first ones made in cases by the cook, to absolutely try the homemade liquorice bitterness, it is worth it!

The historic center of San Giovanni in Fiore is beautiful, it looks like a nativity scene perched on the side of a hill. The restaurant is in a small alley in the old town, with tables set outside. We tried and shared different dishes and I go by heart. Among the appetizers a pie with porcini mushrooms and provola and a platter of cold cuts and cheeses, a little trivial, with sweet onion sauces and Calabrian peppers. We tried two first courses, scialatielli with sausage sauce and another in white with porcini mushrooms. They're both great. Then we closed with an excellent fillet cooked on the griddle and a tasty stew. I am aware of having described the dishes superficially but our liking for the flavors and compositions was very high. Very nice staff and correct bill. Place to come back to.

Fantastic family run restaurant with wonderful food! We had a lovely dinner and the best T bone in Italy! The husband wife team and their kids and cousins run a beautiful restaurant that is charming with local dishes and great homemade liquors including a fantastic liquorish flavor.. Son was there and he did a great job handling English to Italian translating too! Really awesome!

It was the worst gastronomic experience in Italy so far. The owner seemed to believe he was always right, and the guests were always wrong. One of the guests even vomited after the meal due to the low-quality wine. The food was not fresh and appeared to be from convenience stores. The portions were very small, and even the starter (antipasto) was made with subpar ingredients. When asked to cook the meat properly, the owner disappeared. The restaurant also lacked options for people with dietary restrictions. The owner's attitude and behaviour towards the guests were unacceptable. I recommend trying one of the many other good restaurants in San Giovanni in Fiore.

Characteristic place, excellent food, top quality meat. Impeccable service. The owners very kind and helpful. Typical dishes of the local tradition, cooked with skill and high quality raw materials at km 0. Vino buonissimo! The honest and online bill for what you eat. Super consigliato!

Fantastic experience! From the quality food to the warm welcome from Giulio and all the staff, this beautiful day in Sila was further enriched by this unforgettable lunch. The grilled meat and the typical Calabrian "paisanella" are superb: we'll see you again soon!
