Relaxing lunch

Service of superb quality on both our visits. Waiters very compassionate towards elderly guests. Brought specials to our attention e.g 50% discount on Burgers on Tuesday. Food very tasty.

Fantastic experience

Amazing food, beautifully presented and prepared. Excellent service. We were pleasantly surprised and will be back for more. The menu is varied with some unusual dishes chucked in. Pasta dishes and the Asian salad were superb.

Disappointing

Disappointing. Waited an age to order coffee, then again to order food. A simple order of toasties which again took ages - we had been in the restaurant an hour at this point. The food was disappointing and the fries were cold. We were at the table by the kitchen and could see that they were overwhelmed by the amount of orders coming through. The manager came across to apologise and said they were understaffed - had they told us this at the start we might have been more understanding . Will not be returning.

SWEET BERRY SAUCE ON MY EGG AND BACON TOAST???

On a Sunday stopped for a quick bite, could say maybe brunch. I was so not impressed with the pairing of certain ingredients. They were too far apart - don't blend in well. On my egg and bacon toast, there was a large dollop of sweet berry sauce with gritty seeds, and that didn't go down well. We believed that the Nutella Croissant that my son ordered would have decadent creamy nutella filling, but alas along came a pitiful amount of nutella as a dipping sauce on the side. The open avo and mushroom sandwich that my daughter ordered was not that bad, but the presentation sure was. The only positive thing served on our table was the refreshing water with a slice of lemon, a stick of carrot and cucumber - and not forgetting the cubes of butter dressed in cute sweet-like wrappers. The staff at this little café are knowledgeable and attentive, but the items on the menu need some revamping.

I’ve only been here 3 times and first 2 excellent! Today was disappointing as ordered food for breakfast but arrived not only cold but not cooked properly. Waitress, who was excellent, offered alternatives but after I’ve returned food I tend to lose appetite. So declined offer! However, I was stunned they charged me as someone who uses their sister’s restaurants frequently ! In their defence they have since contacted me and offered free meal although later in the day their sister restaurant let me down also! I’m hoping one offs ! Staff are excellent !

Long wait and dirty futniture

My wife and I did not expect to wait nearly an hour for a simple breakfast order in a restaurant that was not busy at all. Furthermore, the torn upholstery on the benches where the foam shows through and the dirty stains on the seats do very little for one's appetite. The waiter was attentive and told the manager that we were unhappy about the long wait, but the manager never bothered to come to our table to discuss it. We will avoid the restaurant in future. Circus Circus used to have a good reputation but clearly it is going downhill fast.

Best food experience in a long time.

This restaurant is situated inside the Gateway Shopping Mall in Umhlanga. It was a pleasant experience. From the staff to the food. All outstanding. I ordered the butter chicken penne pasta. It’s the best I’ve ever tasted in my life. I would’ve paid for the recipe. I did try but obviously they declined my offer. Do yourselves a favor and visit Circus Circus Cafe.

Bad manager on Woman's day 2024.... what a let down

The manager was rude and his treatment was obviously racially motivate. I used to love Circus circus but I don't see myself going there again. The oxtail tasted like it had been cooked a week ago, then through in a tomato sauce, it was blend and lacked seasoning. My partner swears the meat was a little off. The waiter was really great and I appreciate him a lot. But that's it, no more

Hi tshepison. Sorry to read of your experience. We believe you visited the Chartwell Branch in Chartwell Drive? Your feedback has been passed on to that store. This page is for the Gateway Branch. The new Tripadvisor page is being setup for Chartwell at the moment so if you would like to remove it from the Gateway page, we would appreciate it, but otherwise we have passed on your review to the relevant store. Good food

I had the oxtail which was very good. The portions are a good size and waiters helpful. Large menu and my waiter, Lenny, made sure I knew of the specials too. Nice dinner for a reasonable price.

Full of flies

Food always good. However the gateway store is always swarming with flies on tables and chairs. Cant imagine what happens in the kitchen. They always run out of coffee crunchies. Good food sad hygiene.

Unprofessional service

On the 3rd of September around lunch time I went to circus circus with my husband myself and my 2 kids it was my sons 4th birthday so we all ordered the half price 3pastas And a half price burger 4meals in total my kid ate some pasta and the other didn't like it while we were almost done with the meal we had asked the waiter for the bill a white guy came and approached us he didn't even introduce himself he then further stated that we will have to pay full price for the 2meals and that he would be running a loss he then took the bill and had it adjusted I then went on to say I was not informed in the beggining when I placed the order neither did the waiter tell us before so we had to pay full price for the meals I think this kind of service is pathetic and customers should be treated with respect I will not go back to circus circus in gateway

Terrible service, food not good and overpriced compared to nearby restaurants.

The waitresses know we're rude and very unfriendly. There is no options for vegetarians. Food is overpriced compared to restaurants right next to them. Food in restaurants next to them is much tastier and at a cheaper price. Waiters at the nearby restaurants are also much friendlier than them. I highly recommend people to visit the restaurants near them inorder to eat quality food at a cheaper price with better service. You will notice they are much quite than the restaurants right next to them and that itself, says alot... Extremely disgusted with their waitresses. Everytime I looked at them to get their attention, they pretended like they couldn't see me which was extremely immature. There are many people who need jobs and deserve to work in the industry. It would be nice if they closed down so another restaurant could replace them and offer the same service that other nearby restaurants are offering. I do not recommend this place at all.

Very very poor experience

The service was poor, the roof was leaking cause it was raining. The food came after 45min. The beverages came without straws. The table was sticky. My carry was served and the rice was off..

A nice casual restaurant

We just dropped into this restaurant after walking past and it looked pleasant. While the menu was not huge, and there are no starters, I had the Kingklip, my daughter the ribs and my wife the fish cakes. All were tasty and the meal was good value.
