Great view with great food

This restaurant has a very nice ambiance, you walk in and have a wonderful view of Umhlanga and the ocean. The staff are friendly and management checked on us to see if everything was in order. The food was very good- we had a Gourmet Burger, Rib eye steak and T Bone steak- everyone enjoyed their meals.

Ok good not the best service!

Lovely location and views, food was good grill basic food. I had spatchcock chicken which was huge but fries were under cooked. Steaks were good but not excellent! Service was incredibly slow with a waitress who seemed less than interested. Overall it was ok

Great views, Bad attitude

The place is well situated, and with lovely ambience but waiters here have bad attitude from the onset. They do not smile, are not friendly and act like we are inconveniencing them by our very presence. We experienced this for two days in a row. They need staff training in serving patrons. Management needs to fix this.

Waste of time

Lousy chow. For a restaurant that is supposed to do meat, my chicken was dry and tasteless. My ribs were sickening sweet. Give it a miss. I complained to the waiter and the manager never even came to ask…

Great steak!

I visited The Baron twice whilst in Umhlanga on a recent business trip. The atmosphere and decor were great and it was pretty busy both times we went. The food was great, I had the T Bone the first time round and then the lamb chops on the second visit, both were really good. The price was really cheap (certainly in comparison to UK prices) with a T Bone with sides costing about £10, which was fantastic value. Another that I'll come back to for sure!

Very questionable customer service

The waiter from the begining could not concentrate on the orders. Took her 3 times to bring me the right wine. I have ordered a medium rare steak i got medium well, the rest of my order was just missing she forgot about it . After sending the steak back i got another steak still not medium rare.... It was medium. Manager barely appologised and was behaving like this is normal. When we got out bill the waiter was cheeky enough to demand 10%tip on top of the bill .... No service recovery was done

Good for GREAT Service

Your food is cooked on a charcoal grill to perfection. 4 oof us dined here for the 1st time and everyone was impressed. The waitress was attentive and the manager also checked on us. I would definitely dine here again if my travels bring me back to Durban..

Best stake-house!!

Phenomenal steak house! I have gone there plenty of times and love the meat and salad! It’s one of the best steak house I ever been internationally. Other reviewers complain about friendliness of staff but I have had no such experience in the last two years. Instead one night the owner came to our table and said the rib eye I ordered, today it is not of good quality! I found that honest and professional! The ambience is nice, lots of wood and view into the fire in the kitchen! Beautiful view on the pacific and beach!! I am looking forward when visiting Umhlanga next time: I will definitively return!

Food has no business being this good. Our waitress Mandy was so lovely and attentive. Not our first visit since arriving and we have enjoyed every meal. Will definitely come back. Fab food views and reviews

Best restaurant in Durban's Arch Area

Superb venue. Opposite of Hilton Garden Inn Umhlanga. Excellent quality of food and beverages. Breathtaking view to the ocean from the terrace. And first and foremost - lovely service - big kudos go to the entire Team and in particular to Cebi, Mandy and Angel. Well done! Once I have posted my review on Google, Blake reached out to me with additional information: Closing time for Saturday is 10pm (last orders in the kitchen) and the earliest 10.30pm to 11pm At the bar. Sunday is 8.30pm last orders in the kitchen and 9pm at the bar.
