The waitress serving us couldn't speak much English but we managed to get along though it was difficult. She recommended to order the set but wasn't able to explain what the set comprised. We went along in good faith and turned out that her recommendation...was superb. It was quite fun waiting to see what we would be served next, we had totally no idea what we ordered. The set was however not enough for two and we supplemented it with other orders. The onl drawback of this place is that being an yakitori place, customers could smoke in the premise, so it could get very smoky.More

Delicious, local, cheap, brilliant - really very enjoyable and great yakitori. Good English spoken. Highly recommend.

We used to live here and this restaurant was recommended many years ago. We went back as part of a trip for the Rugby. Just the same as ever, thankfully! They serve brilliant yakitori. Often a queue and there is a list outside the door...for next table (or seat at the bar). Very popular with locals and atmosphere is great. Good service and there are English menus. General approach is to order-eat, order-eat etc not go for a full whack straight off. Good beer and sake. A must do if nearby and you like informal yakitori.More

We walked passed this yakitori restaurant in the morning and came back for dinner. We didn’t have a reservation. We were seated at the bar where the cooking was happening. We were able to navigate the Japanese/ English menu. We ordered a few plates chicken...wings, chicken with scallions, cheese stuffed peppers before ordering a couple additional plates asparagus wrapped in pork. All very tasty. Chatting to Japanese resident seated next to me - he always brings his guests to this restaurant. He recommended the potato but we were too full. I surprised myself with my dexterity of eating edamame peas with chopsticks. (Don’t know if you use your hands).More

Jam-packed with locals and for good reason. Lively atmosphere and outstanding yakitori. I recommend the bacon-wrapped mochi.

We regard ourselves as foodies, which is why Japan, Tokyo in particular, is heaven for us. It is just hard to go wrong. That said, as much as we appreciate and love the many Michelin stars the city has to offer, places like Kushiwakamaru are...truly gems. It is a local, no pretense, amazing food spot for grilled meat and veggie lovers (oh yeah, I need to also mention the large frosty mugs of beer). Just roll up your sleeves, and loose count of your skewers, cause its affordable and will be, like it has become for us, a place you will always want to return to.More

I went here with a friend after work in the middle of the week. She'd been there before and we weren't disappointed. The taste of the food is good, but not exceptional. Prices are very affordable. Overall a nice and atmospheric experience I highly recommend.

Near Nakameguro train station, this unpretentious yakatori place feels like a local hang. Not so keen on people being allowed to smoke, but otherwise the restaurant is a fun and crowded place. Particularly liked the pork, chicken wings, leek and bacon and aubergine skewers. Good...choice of sake and draught beer. Worth seeking outMore
