We came here for a family lunch on a special occasion and had an absolutely delightful experience. We decided on the Temptations Menu and I was blown away by the extraordinary quality of the food and the number of dishes included, particularly for the price....The staff took the time to talk to us about the origin, story and ingredients of each dish and were clearly hugely passionate about what they were doing. We were there for several hours and enjoyed the whole experience, including the decor and hearing about the history of the restaurant. This was a really special day out and one I very much hope to repeat.More

Very pleasant, family run restaurant with great service. The sommelier is excellent and gave great wine recommendations. The restaurant has an extensive wine list, and offered great advice without being too pushy. Had a delicious reisling from the region that was in the 20-30 €...price bracket. We had the temptations menu, which was delicious, and predominantly fish based. Every course was explained efficiently, but in detail, often with a regional inspiration. The meat dish was a chicken ‘picantón’ which I thoroughly recommend. Intense rich flavor. I was told the corresponding fish dish was also fantastic. Deserts were also great. Very extensive whiskey collection to finish also. Overall I think the price is very reasonable and great value for money.More

The restaurant fully met pretty high expectations. We were seated at a lovely terrace next to the church’s wall. Centenario menu is outstanding from the beginning to the end, lots of local flavors is a big plus. Arroz was excellent, will return just to get...a bigger portion. We went for the wine pairing and loved it as well. And finally we discovered Fondillon! Thank you Cristina and Francisco for an extraordinary experience and see you soon again!More

A great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. Amazing wines, and service. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The food was exquisite. One of the best experiences I have ever had in a restaurant. I would highly recommend 'El Xato' situated in the...quaint square of the town (La Nucia). Thank you for an unforgettable experience.More

Creative and contemporary cuisine in a family owned restaurant with 100 years history and tradition in La Nucia. The chef/owner Cristina Figueira learned the traditional way of cooking from the the family roots than by the inspiration of Ferran Adria she went to study the...modern cuisine to Joan Roca (El Celler Can Roca). The result is a happy marriage of modern and the traditional flavors. She makes perfectly prepared, unusual dishes with carefully selected local products in delicious combinations. The restaurant is tiny and cosy inside with nice rural decoration. They offer two different menus. The Temptations menu is 52,40 Euro with 4 snacks, 3 starters , 1 main dish (with an option to choose between a fish, meat or rice dish) and dessert. The Centenary menu is 68,30 Euro with 6 snacks, 5 starters, a fish dish, a meat dish and the dessert variety. We opted for the Temptation menu with wine pairing. Among the starters we had the steak tartare, poached egg in potato and iberian pancetta broth with mushroom, for mains we had codfish and baby lamb. All the dishes were delicious. The sommelier is Francisco (Cristina’s husband) who assorted sublime (mainly) local wines. The wines were perfectly complementing every dish. The restaurant’s own cellar is situated in the basement of the building. The staff is attentive and very friendly, there was no any time pressure, the plates were arriving in a good rhythm. The only negative issue was the description of the dishes in Spanish and English, sometimes they were not translated properly. Excellent restaurant with high quality dishes and reasonable prices.More

We have been here a couple of times now and every time the food and service is outstanding. We are so lucky to have such a high quality place to go to in the area. There was so many courses you have a job to...remember what each dish tasted of but they were all lovely. If you have the wine pairing the glass is never empty !!More
