This is a great spot to visit if you would like to see Howick Falls from a distance. Lovely gardens with lots for kids to do with jungle gyms, donkeys, pig etc. The original house is beautiful with some originality still there. Unfortunately we had...to ask for the remainder of our drinks a number of times and had to go up to the service counter too. Everyone got their meal but one person was forgotten and again we had to ask for that. Meals were nice and affordable. R1600 for 9 people (1 drink and a main).More

Great place, we thought it was closed but the staff took out out the back via the bar (I am disabled) . We stopped for lunch and it was really good wholesome food. The fall are beautiful, by the way. Very clean, staff don't hover...close by but do pay attention to take plates when you finish. Milkshakes are divine.More

Just higher than the Howick falls on the opposite side is the relaxing Yellowwood Cafe. Good view of the falls and a nostalgic old farm yard view, very relaxing. The service was pleasant, professional and friendly. Our breakfast was excellent and plentiful. We will return...for more meals in future.More

Our lunch experience at Yellowwood Cafe was terrible. The interior is dark and gloomy and grimy. The owners young family had taken up the sitting area near the only working open fire, so we chose to sit outside. Our standard lunch was mediocre. The only...redeeming feature was our friendly, apologetic young waitress. This venue needs a serious revamp and change in attitude.More

Stopped off at Yellowwood Cafe for lunch on our way back from the Berg yesterday. Such a bad end to a wonderful holiday! This place is definitely slowly going downhill. Expecting a well stocked petting zoo we found a lot of the former enclosures had...been left derelict and only a small field with ponies and donkeys was left. The jungle gym is also slowly decaying. Our daughters tried to climb up the cargo net but it was so torn they didn’t get very far! Then came the food. We probably should have guessed from the tacky plastic menu that a vegan burger wasn’t going to be a delicious homemade chickpea/lentil affair! Instead it was a defrosted potatoe patty with mixed frozen veg inside, the type you would buy in the frozen section in the supermarket! On the side was a droopy piece of old iceberg lettuce and shriveled slice of tomato. Our girls had fish and chips, both of which were rubbery and over cooked (also probably straight out a box of I&J’s). They only ate the chips. Our boys wolfed down their chicken and beef burgers from sheer desperation and hunger but were very disappointed. We waited for them to finish and then left as fast as we could, hungry and bitterly disappointed!More

I took my daughter and son for milkshakes to celebrate her birthday, the place was empty, not a car in the parking area, could have been the chilly day? We walked around as the main door said closed, just checking incase they were open. Relief,...an open door. Walking inside, I found some friendly staff members who assisted us and shortly we were drinking milkshakes in the cold eating slap chips, how bizarre. The kids enjoyed the animals and jumped when the donkey bellowed.More

We decided to have lunch at Yellowwood on Thursday. It was lovely to sit in the sun and my nieces loved petting the donkeys and horses. The food wasn’t great. I ordered the warm chicken salad. The chicken was very cold and not warm at...all. My mom had the apple salad and her cucumber and lettuce was not fresh at all. The kids burger was okay and although my niece didn’t moan about the macaroni cheese it did not look very appetizing. The restaurant has a great setting but I have had better food there. We left feeling disappointed.More

Situated on a historic farm overlooking the Howick waterfall, this venue has much potential, but it is, sadly, not utilised. We felt as if we were intruding, the service was so poor. The food was pricey and amateur-like. The children were furthermore warned not to...go to the animals as they would be bitten. Unpleasant experience.More

We went to yellowood cafe to meet up with friends for lunch. the staff were pleasant and service good. The food was a little under whelming. The kids had a great time on the jungle gym and talking to the various farm animals.

A generally unimaginative lunch. The company tried to make the most out of what used to be a lovely restaurant. My hamburger was boring and bland. I will not be returning.

A really beautiful venue, it was lovely to sit outside and great for kiddies. They love the farm animals and the cats. I just found it a little bit expensive. A small slice of cake for R48. Otherwise lovely.

As a family tradition we always stop at Yellowood Cafe on the way home from the Drakensberg, good service, food and views! Heading back to Durban after the long weekend we stopped in and although they told us they were closing soon they welcomed us...in and served us delicious food with a smile. A great experience once again!More
