I booked Zinzis as the venue for a special birthday celebration. There were 28 of us. My husband and I chose a menu and we were invited for a trial tasting and to choose from the great wine list. From the trial tasting on we...knew we were in professional and very capable hands. Every request (there were a lot!) was carefully carried out and the whole event ran incredibly smoothly with our guests telling us how relaxed they felt. The food was simply excellent. Some of the best we have ever had in South Africa. Thank you to the whole team for looking after us so well.More

A stunning restaurant not to be missed set in beautiful grounds. We were greeted by the El the Manager who was very welcoming and introduced our waiter Zoleka. During the evening nothing was too much trouble and we had excellent customer service. The Chef William...is producing outstanding food.More

With good friends we enjoyed a very tasty menu in this restaurant. The meat (steak any lamb) was cooked to perfection and the rendered service was perfect. We come back soon.

Being located in Knysna Zinzi is (was) one of our favorite restaurants. How disappointing this time and we we are sorry to agree with earlier reviews: Food quality and presentation was not what we used to have (especially compared with our last dinner end November...23 with the same menue choice). Moreover the confirmed table seating was changed to a place totally screened off from the outside and a windy sliding door opening in our back. Staff was not open to give us a more sheltered table next to ours - which was not occupied during our whole evening stay. Zinzi can do better and hopefully we can take pride again inviting guests for dinner.More

We’d had a wonderful meal at Sage in Hunter’s Country House Hotel so we were looking forward to dining at it’s sister restaurant. Perhaps it was the high expectation but unfortunately our meal wasn’t what we hoped. It’s a striking building with nice views and...antelope moving around outside. It’s pitched more at gastro pub than fine dining. We chose bitterballen, corn salad, Peruvian chicken and seafood curry. All were fine but no stand out dishes. The restaurant was busy but there were lots of concerns about opening doors, closing doors and impact of mosquito screens from fellow diners which sort of killed the atmosphere. Wine by the glass options were good. Service was friendly.More

Great food here, love the fact power keeps failing and it just gives a more romantic feel. Most of the staff are fabulous I have to say. Only negative was we had a booked table and it got cancelled with no explanation or apology -...we turned up to a sorry we are now full. These things happen but was a pity as the previous night it was amazingMore

The place is very nice... Too bad that the evening was ruined by the presence of a RAT inside the restaurant. Embarrassing hygienic conditions and even more disconcerting the manager's reaction. The memory of this restaurant will certainly remain... but not for the foodMore

While staying at Hunters Country House we had been booked in here on our first night. Lovely setting but if you want a simple nutritious meal after a day travelling, this is not the place. The options are limited if you are mainly vegetarian/ non...red meat. The nibbles plate delivered over complex flavours, simpler would have been better. Chicken wings were tasty but sat on a bed of dry red cabbage and salsa was not salsa. Husband enjoyed the Portuguese chicken with couscous. We thought a cheeseboard might be a good finishing plate ( minus biltong) - cheese portions were generous but while the goats cheese had real flavour, the other two lacked taste, the toasted bread ( instead of crackers) was tooth-breaking hard. Service was very good but overall food disappointing. Think they are over elaborating the food so easy to be put off items on menu, and flavours get lost.More

A return after 6 years and regretably our review has gone from 5 star to 3. We had booked from the UK over a month before arriving in ZA but on arrival were allocated one of the least popular tables notwithstanding there were at least...5 empty tables - some by the windows. Our request for a change would not be met and I suspect, as has been noted in other reviews, priority is given to inhouse guests with 'outsiders' getting a poor deal. The only change offered was to a drafty table by the door. We were then ignored for almost an hour - not even bread offered - before our food arrived. The food, however, was excellent but the kitchen is being let down by poor customer service.More

Loved it. Great staff, great food, great setting. We dined on a day on which the weather gods decided to be irascible, so we could not enjoy the gorgeous garden setting - still, the place is beautiful. The starters and mains were topnotch, the panacotta...sublime. Highly recommend.More

Oh my goodness, what an amazing restaurant. Location, service and food absolutely faultless. The welcome we had was really warm and friendly and we were asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. We decided to sit outside and the fire was on and...we were given blankets as it was a bit chilly. We were really looked after with brilliant service and there was plenty of choice of food and wine on the menu. I had the chicken supreme and it was out of this world fantastic! The food and wine were really good value and we felt like we had a really special meal. Would definitely go back and recommend. My only niggle was that I booked a table online and it would only give me the option of an early dinner (6:30pm) and sitting outside but when we were there there were plenty of available tables inside through the evening so I'd recommend trying to call them to book rather than relying on the online site.More
