Early evening supper right on the beach. Warm welcome and great service. Wonderful calamari and panko prawn starters. Excellent kingclip but hake was a little cold. Overall a great night out!

Great location and tasty food

My third visit to Paternoster, and for lunch, there is no other place than Voorstrandt. I love it there, the location, to food, the wine, the people and the view. On the first day, we enjoyed oysters and the wonderful seafood platter. On the second...day, we were not that hungry and just had some oysters, chips and the very tasty snoek samosas. This is really a lovely place and one of my "feel good" places in South Africa.More

On the beach, beautiful sunset, gas heaters against cold

The location is perfect - on the beach. With the most beautiful sunsets. Good variety on menu (food and wine). I was in 2 minds, whether to give 4 or 3 stars. The location, food and wine were good. It was however negatively impacted by...waiter with "sinus" sniffles - not good when working with food and customers. Overall a very positive experience.More

Great View Disappointing Food

This is typical of a restaurant that does well because of its location right on the beach whether it be on the West Coast of South Africa or on an island off Brazil. The view is fantastic. The food wasn't cooked well. The oil was...so old, the samoosas were fried to a ginger cookie brown colour and the filling inside was dry. The chips were not fresh. Everything was fried in old oil. The service was good.More

A perfect Sunday lunch

We booked a table for 4 with the fullest intention of a long, leisurely lunch, catching up with old friends. We were not disappointed. Service was discrete yet efficient, we were served our meal at the leisurely rate we had hoped for, and our servers...were a delight. None of us were disappointed with any of our courses, and the food and wine lists are balanced and affordable. In all, a wonderful Sunday! Having settled the bill, a shared bowl of very late afternoon seafood chowder was no problem to serve/share and was complimentary. Thoroughly recommended.More

Date night

All staff were friendly and attentive. Delicious food, beautifully presented. Quirky decor and outstanding location. All these factors made for a most enjoyable evening out for an early second wedding anniversary. Thank you!

Disappointing.

Seafood Platter, and myssel soup. Snoek samoosas were tasty. Mussel soup was watery, tasteless, could have been vegie soup. Apart from the 4 tasty mussels in there. Hake was not good, mussels in sauce not good. In total very disappointing, compared to the beauriful view...of 180' beach and rough seas.More

Bad very bad

The fish was not nice at all tasted like you were chewing on a piece of rubber....... The chips was even worse felt like you were chewing on a cottong ball........ will unfortunately not recommend to frienda and family!

Sunset in the beach

Excellent food Wonderful setting Attentive service I had the seafood platter all of which was well prepared and very tasty - must try the mussels and creamy sauce My husband had the Panko prawns and calamari which also was really good. Mussels in creamy sauce...- yum! Don’t miss this gem!More

Typical Paternoster :-)

My husband and I had dinner at Voorstrand. Good and service was excellent. Nice and quaint with heaters and blankets. I had tempura prawns and calamari combo it was delicious and served beautifully. My husband has a beef burger and it was a delicious thick...patty!! Right on the beach.More

excellent dinner with a view

We just missed the Crayfish season ( ends March 15th) ... the available seafood was excellent, but the desserts ( tarts) are phenomenal ! Have been before, would go again

Par excellence

The food, the service, the setting was superb. I had the grilled linefish (Kingklip) with a salad which was like butter, my wife had the seafood chowder - was so tasty I couldn’t wait for her to pass it on.

Seafood was off and chicken tasteless

Views were stunning. Food terrible. Prawns were inedible and smelt off. Hake was greyish im colour and tasted off. Kids had chicken strips that were dry and pale in colour aa well as tasteless. Very disapointing. My whole family is now off seafood after this...experience. Never again!More

A lovely visit to Voorstrandt restaurant

The service was excellent, atmosphere good. The view breathtaking. The food took awhile but freshly made, hence the wait. We had fish dishes which was fresh and delicious.
