Went the night prior as staying locally, lovely staff and atmosphere. Saw their offer for 2 meals of steak, chips and salad for £22 and decided to book up as is a bargain.
10/10 meal, asked us how we liked our steak and delivered on one being rare and the other medium rare, beautiful cut of steak each, thick cut and little fat, expertly chard outside whilst remaining tender.
We got the extra sides as we’re greedy and every element was cooked to perfection, really recommend the vine roasted tomatoes. Plus they offer sauces for the steak, the garlic butter I had was outrageously good and complemented the steak perfectly. The sides/sauces are extra each but I would recommend as are delicious, however you get enough from you steak meal alone that it wouldn’t be essential to bulk it out.
Recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment!

Well what can i say. FANTASTIC FOOD.
I have never had such a nice stake it was fresh seasoned and presented to me by a lovely waitress.
More to the point it was not some little dried up stake it was the size of the table!
Value for money i would have paid more for this.
My family had other items of the menu and it was so much that my two children could not eat all of it.
We will be making a visit very soon and try some more delights of the well thort out menu.
Thankyou to staff and chef.

My partner and I came in for a Chateaubriand for a special occasion.
It was by far the best steak I’ve had in years! It was cooked to perfection (medium rare) and was the same consistency of pick all the way through, no over cooked grey on the edges like I’ve had before elsewhere. Is came with a massive portion of fries, lovely dressed side salad and 2 sauces of your choose. Honestly it melted in my mouth! I’ve eaten a few times at the brewers arms and have always walked away very happy with the value, but also the service as well. All the staff are so friendly! I look forward to my next visit!

I supposedly had homemade lasagne, however it was lasagne in name only. There was no tomate based sauce, no béchamel sauce, just layers of minced beef between sheets of pasta, topped with rubbery melted cheddar cheese. It had been over heated in the microwave and the edges were solid. It was hard, dry and tasteless. I couldn’t eat it and wish I’d sent it back because it was inedible. No apology - the waitress just said she would pass my comments to the ‘chef’.
My husband had egg, ham and chips at a cost of £11.50. you’d expect the ham to be premium home cooked ham, but it was two thin slices of the sort of sandwich ham that comes pre-packed in supermarkets.
To top it all we were wrongly charged for drinks.

Had dinner in the Brewers Arms, went for the cote de boeuf steak and it was amazing. Cooked brilliantly, it had so much flavour, lovely and rare in the middle with a great charring on the outside. In my opinion you couldn't get better.

We went along for a family Sunday lunch on Easter Sunday. Staff are friendly and very efficient, and despite us being a fairly large group for a non-chain pub to cater for, our food all came out together, piping hot, very tasty, and immaculately presented. Desserts were fabulous, and the home made white chocolate cheesecake was to die for and the chocolate brownie were to die for.
I’d say if you are passing to pop in, but I’d actually recommend making a detour to get here. Great food, great staff and plenty of character.

Strange set-up in the restaurant area which overlaps the bar with people standing next to your table chatting having a drink standing next to you.
Menu was basic. We ordered sirloin steak and t bone steak only to be told they ran out of rump. We changed to two t bone and them told only one t bone! My wife ordered the burger.
Both meals were incredibly salty.
Not cheap for average food.
Wouldn’t recommend

My wife and I visited the Brewers Arms yesterday for lunch and found it to be a really lovely pub. Good parking, nice decor, nice atmosphere, good selection of beers and comfy seats.
Straightforward menu, with some good vegetarian options. My wife had the mountain (vegetarian) burger and I had the chicken burger and both were well presented and delicious.
Staff were very polite and attentive. After our meal we retired to the beer garden in the rear, which is nicely laid out and a real sun trap. Our only regret is that we don’t live a little nearer so we could make it a regular haunt.

Went back to the Brewers Arms this week for dinner. Tomahawk steak was on the menu and choosing this was a very easy decision. As usual fantastic steaks, also do great pizzas. Great village pub, great food, great service. Well worth a visit.

We are on holiday in the area and chose this restaurant due to a nice looking menu, steak night offer and good reviews. We attended on a Thursday night, which generally seems popular due to their steak night offer however when we arrived it is clearly also a popular “locals spot” which wouldn’t bother us if weren’t for the fact that we were ignored continuously for the first 15 minutes, receiving no table service, unlike everyone else that subsequently arrived. When we did eventually order our food and drink by going up the bar the lady serving us (pixie crop hair) was quite abrupt about the fact we hadn’t booked a table, despite no requirement of this listed on the website and we sat at an unreserved table. She told us she could only take our order “if we were quick” and proceeded to roll her eyes at someone sat at the bar as we walked away.
We can’t fault the food, the steak, hanging meat kebab, prawns & sticky toffee pudding were all lovely and would highly recommend.
Our experience was obviously quite different to the table next to us who weren’t enjoying theirs and complained and sent some dishes back, which is none of our business, however what we didn’t appreciate was that where we were sat was next to the kitchen hatch, one of us having a direct view into the kitchen, where we could quite obviously see and hear their unreserved disgruntled reactions to the other table every time the same lady returned into there.
Would recommend a cheerier customer service, especially for guests, but props to the chef for a lovely meal.

Visited Brewers Arms for the 1st time from moving into the village (herstmonceux) just before lockdown. I have to say it was excellent and will be coming back soon. It's a beautiful cottage pub which feels very cosy inside. Food is perfectly presented and tastes as good as it looked. Staff were very kind and greeted us with smiles. Thank you ever so much for a lovely first visit we are glad to be part of a lovely village.

Visited the Brewers whilst on holiday nearby. What a beautiful pub. The staff and owners welcomed you like they would old friends. The food is cooked fresh and there is enough on your plate to satisfy the most hungriest of visitors. It's also reasonably priced. We drank there on several evenings and ate there twice. Food is served Wednesday to Sunday and the choice of the menu and also the specials board is enough to keep you pondering for a while. The 2 occasions that we dined here I chose the Wagu Burger from the specials board. It came with fries, and a small salad on the plate. The burger was beautifully cooked and was flavoursome. My wife had the tuna steak with an Asian dressing, again cooked to perfection. On the second occasion we ordered a large meat feast pizza along with a side of haloumi fries and a small salad. Once again the meal was enjoyable and the pizza to large to eat in one sitting, relying on a takeaway box so we could enjoy the rest later.
All in all a great experience in a proper local pub. We will definitely return when we come back to the area in the future.

I phoned up and booked a table for 2 for the same evening circa 7.45pm. We arrived and waited by the bar to be served although it was a little busy, not a problem. Was ignored by the bar staff and a larger party who came to order drinks after us were prioritised. Manager then came over and finally sat us to our table. We were seated right in the middle, not normally an issue but just as it was so busy I politely asked ‘I know it might be a pain in the ass but would it please be possible to sit outside?’, to which the reply was ‘I mean, yeah it is a pain in the ass but if it’s what you want then fine’. She left our table, we took our menus outdoors, put them on a table and left the pub. Incredibly rude I actually couldn’t believe it! I understand everyone has bad days but I’d never dream of speaking to a customer like that. Food is normally so so good in there and you can’t fault it, just a shame the staff make you feel very unwelcome and like you’re a burden.
If they were too busy and it was a pain for us to eat, they simply shouldn’t have taken our reservation.

Had a lovely meal at the Brewers Arms last night. I had received recommendations about the steaks at this place so chose a rare 10oz rump. Cooked to perfection and as juicy and tasty as you could wish for, lovely. I followed this up with the sticky toffee pudding and custard and, oh wow, simply the best I've ever had. Couple all this with friendly service, great value for money, and a cosy atmosphere, and you have the the perfect pub meal experience. Highly recommended.
