We visited on 20 Aug 2022 & just like last year when we visited the flowers were amazing. You also able to sit down & eat or buy some typical traditional South African food from the farmstall . You also pay inside , still R25pp...which is really a bargain. Cash only. Having done the entire Namaqualand Flower Route , Nieuwoudtville & particularly Matjiesfontein Farmstall is the best , the vastness of the flowers is amazing. As mentioned in previous reviews the round trip is about 7km with arrows indicating the way & you able to stop & get out anywhere. A few people were picnicking along the route. We were also fortunate enough to see 2 small antelope which we think were steenbokkies. The road from the main town of Nieuwoudtville is gravel , about 8km to the Farmstall & quite driveable with any vehicle , the same applies to the flower routeMore

Fantastic rustic food, had the tripe and lamb curry with roosterbrood, delicious! Flowers surrounding the farm were spectacular.

Visited Matjiesfontein on 20 Aug 2021 and wow what an experience. For R25pp you able to drive the flower route , about 7km. It's known as the bulb capital of the world & certainly lives up to its reputation. Never saw so many flowers during...our entire 9 day trip on the Namaqualand Flower Route. Nieuwoudtville definitely the town to visit for best flower viewing , 50km from VanRhynsdorp. All gravel roads into Nieuwoudtville to Matjiesfontein but driveable with a normal carMore

We thought they had power at the camp site. But they only had a generator for 2 hours. My 70j old mother was freezing and in a lot of pain because of the cold as she usually use a small heater in her tent.

A place to visit for its uniqueness and beautiful display of wild flowers. We arrived there on a Sunday afternoon and it was a bit overcrowded with 3 tour busses stopping for lunch. Mens / Ladies toilet facilities are not clearly marked and you find...ladies coming out of the men's toilet. Can be embarrassing, need some attention and regular service during peak times. Staff are very friendly and it is worth paying the small entrance of R 25.00 per person to do the flower route on the farm. Flowers alll over the place.More

A place to visit for its uniquenness. Lana, Etta and their team dress up for their part and dish up a unique experience of people, food, and scenery during flower season, one of the best places in Niewoudtville to experience the flowers

Once again very friendly people. Best is the 13km flower drive on the farm for a mere R25 fee. Top rated for flower viewing.

We stopped over at this place to see the wild flowers. There is a circle route you can follow in your car at a cost of R25 per person. Well worth the money spent. We did not stay to eat anything, thus we cannot comment...on the food - although it is widely spoken of as an experience.More

The farm was covered in flowers and for a small fee you could drive for about 8km on a well marked route through the farm, stopping and getting out to take photos wherever you want. We also had the lamb and vegetable stew with home...made bread and fig jam at the restaurant, a culinary feast ! Lunch was finished off with Malva pudding and real coffee. Dont let the simplicity of the restaurant building fool you, go in and enjoy real untainted Namakwaland hospitality.More

We stopped again at the Padstal for a Coffee break. Coffee here and the whole atmosphere of the place and the village is really great. Everything is taken care off with love. Matjiesfontein is real treasure of the Western Cape.
