Part of the historical centre of São Paulo, República was once a fancy residential area. República Square holds a craft and food fair every weekend, right by the subway entrance. Nearby, one of the neighbourhood’s main attractions is the Italian Building, where you can see the city from the 42nd floor. The Copan Building also deserves a close look, with 1,160 apartments and a huge floor area that inspired filmmakers and other artists. To get the feeling of São Paulo in the beginning of the 1900s, visit the Municipal Theatre – you will be amazed by its architecture. The area also features several galleries. República is a great area to explore during daytime, but use caution if visiting alone at night.

To capture the most incredible view of São Paulo one absolutely needs to get to the top of this building. Although you have to pay for access its totally worth it. You do receive a juice or glass of wine with entry which definitely is a perk while you soak up the views of the city. From the height of...

"A must when in Sao Paulo"

The tasting menu here is just fantastic, you need to do the tasting menu to get the full experience. You obviously have to like pork, in every form. The menu is both hearty and innovative. The caipirinhas are amazing, we went with two locals (who are friends) and they even drank them. The atmosphere is lively, so much going on,...
Whenever I'm in Sampa, I need to go to Bar da Dona Onça. Lost count of how many times I've been there, almost always a great experience (learned a while back that when you are in the mood for a quite, intimate dinner, this is not quite the place; it gets busy and it gets loud). But if you are...
Although not nearly as "English-fluent" as the website suggests, Maraba Hotel offers clean accommodations and a central location at a fair price. Dated, but secure and offering free WiFi with a strong signal the Hotel is what one needs but no frills. Add on a 24/7 Gym plus friendly staff, it worth a look if price and access matter more...
The hotel is quite ok - it is good value for money, the location is close to the centre (though not in the best neighbourhood), breakfast is ok, the rooms are ok..
Wifi was very slow, and sometimes not working.
The Room was a good size, clean and tidy.
Breakfast buffet was excellent with plenty of variety.
Location is 5 minutes from the Metro, so very easy to get about.
Highly recommended, I would definitely stay again.
The location of this hotel is just what we needed when we only have few days in SP. The hotel is literally 2 minutes walk from The Italian building and the Japan town is less than £ Uber ride. Lots of cafes and restaurant near by, but if you are facing the parkside it get very noisy from one of...
My partner booked this place, she’s usually very good at hotels, but this time she got this one wrong.
Firstly, beggars hanging outside and questionable ladies in the hotel lobby was not a good start. It felt like we had gone back in time to the 70s, nothing felt upgraded or new, but old saggy furniture in the lobby, the...
