Carefree enthusiasm is everywhere in this energetic neighborhood centered on Hongik University, Korea’s top art school. From its assortment of murals to the occasional amateur street performances, creativity and expression make up the wild and beating heart of vibrant Hongdae. At the Free and Hope Market (weekends at the Hongdae Children’s Playground) you'll find one of Seoul’s most popular handmade and creative markets drawing consistent crowds. At Hongdae, there’s never a shortage of things to do and see; food and drink options are nearly endless as are shops and noraebang (karaoke) rooms. Hongdae is also one of Seoul’s top party and club scenes catering to a younger demographic; if a packed club isn’t your scene, you'll also find a range of music venues and bars offering live music in all genres. Although Hongdae has lost much of its unique appeal and undergone rapid commercialization in recent years, be sure to explore Hongdae’s edges in areas such as Sangsu-dong and Yeonnam-dong where Hongdae’s fiercely independent streak still runs freely.
Unforgettable experience! Museum located in unexpected area of Hongik Uni. Before entering u download an app in which U make photo or video. Better video because it will provide u with amazing special effects like in fantasy movies. Every corner of the museum has its own thematic venue. Kids shall be definitely happy. This was so much fun and a great laugh! A must do along with the Trickeye Museum. It was fun to see such a crazy place in what is a pretty conservative city. Don’t be shy, go and have a laugh it’s well worth it for the hilarious photos you’ll get!
One of the famous universities in Korea. Well known for its architect and art & design. The area surround the university is vibrant and hip. Creativity rules. The university has some famous entertainment artist alumni.
+ They serve delicious cuts of both pork and beef! (some places only have either one)
+The staff will help you out if you are a newbie.
+ Very good banchans and sauces to go along with the meat. Although they did not serve us any kimchi which would have been nice.
+ Its all on genuine glowing hot charcoal....
Stayed at Artist Suite room for one night with my good old friends.
Vivian from check-in desk was very friendly with amazing service and hospitality. I can really say she made our day!
Thanks Vivian once again for making my stay at Ryse the best!

The hotel changed our room standard to superior. Also view is perfect. This is perfect experience ever. There are lots of nixe restaurants in Hong-dae, so you can't choose the best one. Enjoy your trip and plz be careful corona.
A clean boutique hotel conveniently located within minutes’ walk from the Hongik University Subway Station, 9 Brick is also full of elements of intriguing designs. Beds are comfortable and everything is okay. The only thing to note is that the left luggage service - guests’ luggage before checking in and after checking out are put in the lobby just next...
Only the location that I think it was great. The room was ok but a bit aging. Me and my friend booked for two beds and ended up having three. Waste of space but ok. Our room wasn’t clean properly but too tired to request to change the room. All in all, it was ok but will not return.
Hotel The Ore is definitely the place to stay at. It is close to all of the nightlife in Hongdae, yest nicely tucked out if the way just enough to not hear all of the noise. There is a 7/11 fairly close downstairs, as well as a Starbucks. Directly behind the hotel is a Italian/fusion restaurant that is AMAZING! Pictures...
