Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
"Great for those who love 'country homes' and history"

This Georgian era townhome made for a delightful afternoon. Here's what you might want to know:
-If coronovirus is still an issue, call to be sure they are open
-Friendly, knowledgable staff in each room (If it's not busy, ask each one to 'give you the grand tour' -you'll learn a lot more than reading the printed card in each...
As always the gardens were a beautiful place to wander and take in the views of the castle. We found a great children’s playpark at the Lothian Rd end which my nephew loved. Good to find child friendly things on a city break.
We walked up and down this busy street during our time in Edinburgh. It is a busy street with many shops to look in, lots of sides streets cone off of this and you can find some good places to eat and drink. If you like shopping then you will enjoy this street.
For families who like meat, this is a superb restaurant. Every cut of meat was cooked to perfection and the range of salads was also excellent. The kids loved the concept and we definitely hope to go back once life is back to normal.
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.
Having eaten in similar style breakfast/brunch places all over the world, it’s safe to say that this is one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. It’s easy to see why it gets its no1 breakfast rating in Edinburgh and to see why it’s so highly regarded by locals and...
Just got home from an amazing weekend. It was my husbands birthday and our wedding anniversary. As a surprise I wanted to organise for some bubbly and a cake in our apartment when we arrived. After a quick call with Freya a cake was ordered and paid for and a complimentary bottle of prosecco was offered which I kindly accepted....
I have been pleased with other Hub hotels and Edinburgh Rose street did not disappoint- really comfy beds in the compact, clean and well presented rooms were the perfect base for a city break with friends. Thanks to staff who were helpful and courteous too.
"Days 2 & 3 great service made this a memorable part of our Scottish trip"

We spent a very comfortable 2 days at the royal Scots club; parking in Edinburgh is really difficult but the staff here are well prepared to direct guests as to where best to park. Our room was on the 2nd floor and very comfortable if somewhat warm; we had a great breakfast both mornings of our time here and the...
Came again to Tigerlily’s hotel as we both really enjoy it.
We came for a night away as it was our wedding anniversary and the hotel staff were first class.
They gave us a complimentary upgrade to “The Black Room” which is stunning.
No issues whatsoever ever with the current situation ie covid.
The staff take your temperature on arrival...
Stayed for 6 nights, originally planned 5, well positioned clean hotel, not all facilities are open, but staff are friendly and helpful, close to bus and tram route for travelling about, and an excellent Italian restaurant - Giuliano’s about a 5 minute walk
