With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
Eat, see, and stay in Trafalgar Square / Embankment
The Courtauld Gallery is closed for renovation until 2021. Quite how the previous reviewer managed to enjoy his visit in January 2020 is beyond me! Must have got the wrong place.
However, I was a huge fan before it closed and can’t wait for it to reopen. It was incredible how many famous paintings you could see standing in one...
How often do you visit a place, a building or an art exhibition and discover later that you have missed key details? One of the joys of going back again to places where you have been before is that you discover new things that you didn't spot on previous visits.
At Two Temple Place, built in the 1890's as the...
This is a wonderful place to while away a couple of hours. The subjects range from royalty to sportspersons, film stars, engineers, inventors, the list goes on; and there are photographic portraits as well as paintings. Unusually for such places, there is no objection to taking non-flash photos.
What a funky little place, they are more like a mini tourist attraction/Lego museum rather than a shop.
They have cool things you can take your photo with.
Buying Lego is just the bonus.
It has some awesome displays that really show you the potential of things you can make.
They are open really late
Amazing food. It’s basically tapas so don’t expect a plateful of re-fried beans, it is far more delicate than that, with tiny tacos filled with exquisite raw tuna. Staff were really friendly and for a restaurant smack bang in the middle of tourist London it was inexpensive. I will definitely be going back.
This bar has the most beautiful layout of any other I’ve seen before. From the décor to the lighting, it puts you in a classy type of mood. You feel like true royalty here. The menu is a work of art as well. Changes every year, so you are always blown away by something new. Will always come back when...
The Haymarket may have been a ghost town as the UK begins to self isolate but we received a very warm and friendly welcome at Steak & Co from Vikki and enjoyed a delicious lunch. We were the only customers in there but Vikki retained her sense of humour despite the uncertainty of her future there and we so enjoyed...
Best steak in London. That’s a statement you will agree with if you dine here. Loved the quality of the food, the cook it to your liking concept is fun and niche. Vibrant and lively late night eating joint, will always come here when in London.
We were bought a meal at Kaspers for 60th birthday and I was well pleased. Great food great service and a great location I couldn’t really fault it. All the staff were very professional and extremely pleasant and helpful. They don’t rush you I was very impressed
This is the kind of places that you don go much often but when you go it’s amazing. The ambient it’s really nice. Good service, the stuff lovely.
I highly recommend if you have an special event, I’ve also seen that the Christmas and NYE set menu it’s really good and at a good price according to the quality &...

Overall I love all the Firmdale properties and truly look forward to my London visits just to relax in this special place with in a busy city. The design my Kit Kemp is consistent in all the properties including in NYC which is comforting however some highlights include as follows:
*The furniture is THE MOST COMFORTABLE across the board. Its...
Fantastic location. Anecdote: We stayed here for our honeymoon, and Rochelle at the front desk heard this. She found us a very nice room, and surprised us. When we entered, champagne and rose petals on the bed were awaiting us! We definitely did not expect this, so were touched at Rochelle's kindness. We will definitely return on our next trip...

"Great huge rooms with private balconies in an amazing location!"

Wonderful helpful, polite staff and a spotless, huge room helped make this a memorable stay.
We chose a balcony room with a city view that helped make our stay a bit more special. Each balcony is private and has a table and chairs which made it feel like being on holiday in our home city.
Our room generously proportioned, shower...
