The North End is a nucleus of specialty food restaurants and shops, especially around its Mount Pleasant Village area. Frequented by antiquers for its numerous collectable shops, furniture spots, and oddity stores, the North End is a maverick of the quaint and quality. Vintage toy stores, accessory shops, and cinemas welcome perusers to step back in time, while the wide pedestrian squares and the large medical and business community inject it with a dose of modernity. With numerous cafes and Toronto's greatest number of independent booksellers, it isn't uncommon to see folks in this area at their leisure, reading outdoors and in eateries, and taking life a bit more slowly – even if it's only during their lunch break.
This is one of Toronto's most beautiful gardens and connects to the ravine system which is prevalent throughout the city. It is a bit out of the way, being up near Lawrence Station, but the effort is worth it for an end-of-day stroll.
Toronto is about a two hour drive away.
It is located by the Beaver Valley north of Markdale. The closest large towns are Owen Sound and Collingwood to the north and Shelburne to the south.
There is a great view and an interesting historic plaque. The Bruce Trail runs by here.

Anniversary dinner beautiful ambience. Service exceptional- our waiter Jeffrey (sp) was great, very knowledgeable about menu options and introduced the sommelier to assist with a delicious bottle of wine.
Food we chose were enjoyable - steak tartare, venison, etc. Of course this is fine dining so prepare your palette for something new and prepared differently. Take your time and enjoy...
We have visited the restaurant on a busy Sunday afternoon. The staff was very nice and the atmosphere was fantastic. I have ordered the beef and eggs. The beef was not to my liking as it was served overcooked but the eggs and potatoes were very good. The waffles and French toast were very good. The coffee is to die...
We just ordered in from this restaurant, which is a great place to eat in. The food was delicious and we will surely order in again, until they can reopen. Glad to support an excellent local restaurant during these difficult times for small businesses.
Monkey Bar is a hidden gem. It has been around for 20 years. It's menu is diverse. The house wine is exceptional. The service was reasonably good, but there ought to have been more wait staff. The food was superb. I started with the calamari, which was good. My main, which I highly recommend, was the veal chop. It's not...

Had a family meal at Stack and was impressed with the quality and amount of food. The BBQ Chicken was great as was the pulled pork. Even the children's menu was tasty. I will be back to try out other items on the menu.
