A bit too commercial compared to the competition
Did a quick 5 tasting, led by the excellent Zabron. Wines were not that great, and the tasting had more of a commercial, in-and-out vibe than a relaxing time. Zabron was great though and made good recommendations as well as sneaking in some of napoleons favourite dessert wine which was delicious

A great historic winery with incredible food
Incredible views, wine tasting and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed the wines during our tasting. The buildings and vineyards are beautifully maintained and surrounded by the mountains. We also enjoyed one of the best meals we have had throughout our South African trip at one of the restaurants. Our meals included a perfectly cooked and presented ostrich dish and a wonderful pasta with trout.

    Well worth the visit!
With the is being the oldest vineyard in South Africa it was a must on the to do it. It was a little bit of a rush job as we got there for the last tour at 4pm. The tour was about 20mins and a great introduction to South African Wine and the Groot Constantia vineyard. The staff were lovely in the tour and to finish the wine tasting was great. I wouldn’t buy the chocolate and wine combo again as it wasnt to my tasing.

    Iconic
The oldest wine estate in the W. Cape with some very unique features. For example, they grow their own pinotage grapes and their dessert wine can be kept for 100 years! Lovely outing for the family and dog. Pair your wine tasting with chocolates designed to bring out the distinctive nose and notes of the wines.

Go for the views, stay for the food/ wine
We did the self guided tour with wine/chocolate tasting with our 3 kids (13, 11, 9). I was worried they would be bored or it was too adult for them to enjoy but there were TONS of other families there, too. They enjoyed seeing the old furniture and household items and stealing our chocolate from the wine tasting 😉 Wine was delicious and expertly explained and our lunch was divine too. A glorious day!

    Our visit to Groot Constantia
We were visiting Groot Constantia on our recent visit to Cape Town and, just had to go to the Constantia vineyard while their. We got the Blue line hop on hop off bus which took us into the estate where we ordered our favourite wine Groot Constantia special reserve which we arranged to be shipped home, plus bought a couple of spares to be carried home ourselves. Once the transaction was completed and, also had an opportunity to try another we decided to finish our visit by having a lunch at our favourite restaurant Simon's which is on the estate. The meal was absolutely amazing, the company was very good and most importantly the settings were outstanding. Highly recommend a visit should you get the opportunity 🥰

    Wine tasting
We did a wine tasting and then the visit. You are gifted the glasses that were used to serve you wine. We liked the wine and chocolate pairing. The guided visit was interesting, however no clear signage on where it will start. This was the first winery that we visited while in SA, and it did not disappoint compared to the others.

Beautiful views, wonderful wines, fantastic memories
I went here as part of a group from our cruise ship. The place is situated in a beautiful landscape, the buildings and grounds are meticulously maintained. There were people dressed in period garb (1600's) as entertainment along with a 10 piece orchestra. We had a talk about the history of the place, plus wine tasting (the wine flowed freely) and canapes (could have brought out the canapes a little earlier and a few more - I was feeling no pain with all the tasting and no food). There is a museum and gift shop. We were a group of well over 500 people and they accommodated us with no problem. Also a restaurant on premises.

    Worth visiting for the history
Worthwhile visiting g for the history and the wines are very good. The museum part is slightly underwhelming but good to know the backstory. Nice looking restaurants. Big red tour bus stops here.
