- njoy_travellingSan Diego, California86 contributionsPretty grossThis market is very similar to Tsukiji market in Tokyo. More than 90% of the shops are seafood shops and all kinds of gross (to us) presentations of food. It was extremely crowded when we visited and there wasn't a chance to stop anywhere or even take pictures. If you visited Tsukiji market in Tokyo, you can skip this and vice versa.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 3 March 2024
- Tina T7 contributionsAn experience for all 5 sensesThis is an amazing market! It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before. It felt endless and had so many amazing foods, shops, and experiences! It’s. Must see! We went three times at different times of the day just to experience new things! Best to go around lunch time when EVERYTHING is open.Visited March 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 7 March 2024
- Jeff KPittsburgh, Pennsylvania2,476 contributionsWorthwhile StopThe markets are newer and modern than I expected. There are some traditional stalls/booths but most are reminiscent of small stores in a mall. My wife and I found it quite interesting, nonetheless. We particularly like Artisuga, the knife store.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 March 2024
- robertmardle71Brescia, Italy31 contributionsWorth a visit.Great part of Kyoto to visit. Many street food stalls and and a good selection of tasteful souvenir shops. Definitely worth a visit. It was busy, as I imagine it always is, but really enjoyed it anyway.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 March 2024
- msa23_2000Chino Hills, California1,522 contributionsLots of food options and also super crowded and congested. This is a narrow covered alley with a plethora of food options. I actually would’ve really enjoyed it, but walked through at lunch on a rainy day and it felt like every tourist was there at the same time. I could barely walk through and was so perturbed by the crowds didn’t stop to enjoy the food stalls - I just wanted to get out of there. So perhaps not in high season or during lunch time when there are less people it would be better and I could’ve really enjoyed the food.Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten 3 April 2024
- John and Deb KKarratha, Australia820 contributionsBe Prepared for the Crowds400-year-old iconic market studded with stalls offering all manner of Japanese edibles. Great for food lovers, the only problem was the same that we experienced in Tokyo outer market that the amount of people just about made it impossible to get through, or stuck in huge lines trying to get food. There are a few other allies nearby that are not so crowded.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 April 2024
- DanielMtz90Monterrey, Mexico458 contributionsNishiki MarketNishiki Market - It's incredibly crowded, but at the same time, every second is worth it. The food is delicious, with a wide variety to choose from. There's something for every taste bud, and the selection of beverages is equally impressive. You can also find souvenir shops offering great deals. I absolutely loved it, and I'm definitely coming back tomorrow!Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 April 2024
- Rainbow TrainBordeaux, France198 contributionsA must-try to taste Japanese specialtiesI really recommend this place to discover Japanese food. It is a covered market with many kiosks/restaurants serving traditional food. It is served in small portions, often eaten standing up. The idea is to go from kiosk to kiosk and taste the specialties of each one. Be careful, the place is often crowded, avoid for agoraphobesVisited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 18 April 2024
- Birgitta-KennethSolna, Sweden1,636 contributionsHustling and bustlingI am not much for crowded market areas but this was so much fun and in some kind of organised chaos with a smile. Loads of restaurants/food stalls to choose from and we had two lovely meals here. Loads of shops as wellVisited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 April 2024
- BigFamily78Saint-Remy-les-Chevreuse, France537 contributionsTypical but expensive...A visit is essential. It is a very lively place, very large and a large part dedicated to food and particularly seafood products. Many stalls serving their cooked products and the mere sight of them will make you have a good time. It's usually crowded. To eat on site, almost no place to sit. You have to like eating standing up... King crab, oysters or giant prawns are quite expensive. And we also find abalone which is so difficult to find in France.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 May 2024
