Whether you come for skiing or summer fun, beautiful Sun Valley offers recreational activities galore in the spectacular Rocky Mountains of central Idaho. Most of the action takes place around the Sun Valley Resort and its two mountains: Bald Mountain, ideal for expert skiers or snowboarders looking for steep, challenging runs, and Dollar Mountain, with gentle slopes that are perfect for beginners. Off the slopes, more winter fun awaits: try dog-sledding through miles of white powder or spend an afternoon ice fishing in the Big Wood River. Warm up at the Ketchum/Sun Valley Heritage and Ski Museum which features an exhibit on the history of skiing and information about Ernest Hemingway's time in Sun Valley. Summer in Sun Valley offers just as many adventures. The Sawtooth Wilderness Area boasts over 200,000 acres of natural splendour, with opportunities for swimming, fishing, mountain biking, white-water rafting and more.

The history of St. Louis has been heavily influenced by Westward expansion and blues music. The big "must-see" in this region is the Gateway Arch, while other important sites include the Museum of Westward Expansion, the St. Louis Cathedral and the Anheuser-Busch factory tour. The city offers plenty for the whole family. Children will enjoy the local zoo and the Magic House, while family members will also want to unwind at Forest Park, home to the World's Fair almost a century ago.

With the distinctive Haystack Rock and Needles marking its shoreline, Cannon Beach is one of Oregon's quaintest and most picturesque destinations. Nine miles of beach make a perfect setting for strolling along the seaside, watching diverse wildlife in its natural habitat and building a sand castle in the annual sand castle building contest. The Pacific Northwest scarcely gets more peaceful than unspoiled Bellingham, a bustling city nestled in the Bellingham Bay. Nature abounds in all directions surrounding this coastal paradise. The waters of the Pacific offer opportunities for whale watching, cruising to Friday Harbor or visiting the Canadian city of Victoria. To the east, Mt. Gettysburg is steeped in the history of the Civil War. The epic Battle of Gettysburg, in 1863, resulted in more than 50,000 casualties for the North and South combined. It is also, of course, the place where Abraham Lincoln delivered the immortal Gettysburg Address. The town itself is made up of houses, hotels and taverns dating back several centuries, but Gettysburg offers more modern travel and leisure activities, as well, like wine tastings, orchard tours, shopping and golfing.
