This village in the south of Crete sees its share of tourism, but retains its authentic charm, making it an enticing destination. You'll take in views of Agia Galini's port, the serene hills surrounding town and the Lybian Sea. Tranquil nearby beaches offer a chance to bask in the Mediterranean sun, while cultural diversions like the remains of the ancient Roman city of Gortyn and the stunning Minoan palace of Phaistos are within driving distance.

Much of the old town district of Chania was developed around its harbor, which was built by the Venetians during the 14th century. Its lighthouse still proudly overlooks the Mediterranean. Also commonly spelled Kharkov, Kharkiv is Ukraine’s second-largest city, and with about a million and a half people, and a main cultural, educational and industrial city for the country. Founded in the 17th century, the city is in Ukraine’s northeast (not far from the Russian border) and served briefly as its capital in the early 20th century, after it became a Soviet republic. Kharkiv’s top attractions include its zoo, its history museum, Freedom (Svoboda) Square and the Holy Shroud Cathedral.
