We stayed at Aloegrove for two nights with two couples. On arrival, we were greeted by very friendly staff and shown to our very spacious rooms with Aircon and fan, two double beds, a fully equipped kitchen with Braai, large fridge, absolutely everything anyone could ask for, very large bathrooms, all very rustic and befitting the surroundings. The location on top of a hill makes for a wonderful breeze and gorgeous sunsets and sunrise.

We spent the afternoon by the pool and participated in a game drive with Ivy and Johan, the lodge owners. This included feeding the resident cheetah, leopard and lion and was most enjoyable. There is a wonderful variety of antilopes to be seen, at least 14 giraffes and other animals, we even saw a python on the second evening.

On the first morning, we went to the CCF, which Johan arranged for us. This meant we could take the short cut over Johan's land, which was great.

At breakfast time, there was Yoghurt and fruit, cereal, toast, English breakfast options, eggs any way you want them, toast, jam, etc. In the afternoon we were offered coffee/tea and cake and the evening meal was an absolutely fantastic three course meal.

Both Ivy and Johan are very warm and friendly people and made us feel exceptionally welcome. Johan took a lot of time to explain things to us and answer all our questions regarding his farm and the animals.

We would like to say a huge thank you to this wonderful family and their very friendly and dedicated team, a most relaxing and interesting couple of days. I hope we can come back one day.

During a trip to Namibia where we combined camping with lodge stays, our stay at Aloegrove was one of our favorites. We stayed there because it's close to CCF (they have a private road you can take all the way to CCF). However, the host's evening tour to see their leopard, lion, cheetah was more exciting than anything we saw at CCF. Don't get me wrong, the visit to CCF is still worth it to support their cause. Aloegrove was much more personal. Their lodge sits high on a hill where you can view Waterberg Plateau. It was also one of the few rooms we stayed in that had a heater. The property is massive and you can hike it alone if you're so inclined. I hiked 17 km one day and encoutered warthog, large groups of giraffe, honey badger, and numerous antelope. At the time we visited, there were about 60 giraffe on the property. The owner was cooking some of the best food we had on the trip. The game steaks from their ranch were the best we tasted. The owners went out of their way to see if our experience with a damaged rental car (occurred earlier in the trip) was expected and normal operating procedure.
I can tell the owners are busy and working hard, but they love the land, the animals, and enjoy guests who are excited to be there.

We chose Aloegrove to relax for a couple of nights after our 1,800 mile tour of Namibia. The communication with the hosts Johan and Ivy was fabulous during the booking process. The lodge is a good 20 mins along a track, well signposted, and by this point we were used to Namibian roads, so the uneven bits were no surprise.
We were greeted by staff and showed our fabulous accommodation, spacious and the attention to detail was brilliant, bubble bath for the bath with a spectacular view, beautiful quality bed linen, ground coffee etc etc etc... Everything is there that you could need!
We self catered for the first night with the indoor braai, we ate at the lodge the second night, the chef made a beautiful meal and fantastic breakfast with scrambled ostrich egg. Afternoon coffee and cake is also a real treat.
we joined Johan and Ivy's tour of their farm and feeding their rescued big cats. So informative about the all the animals. I highly recommend the tour, it was great fun and we learnt lots.
Johan, Ivy and their lovely staff cannot do enough for the guests. On our last morning we sat down with a map with them and planned our net trip to Namibia, they shared their knowledge of the best routes and places to travel to, of course we will start and finish with a stay at Aloegrove!
We stayed is some lovely places on our journey but nothing matched the luxurious experience at Aloegrove.

We enjoyed a wonderful 3-night stay at Aloegrove in May 2024. The accommodation is fantastic, very peaceful with fantastic panoramic views. Staff at Aloegrove were amazing, from meeting us at the car to help us to our lodge to the amazing food served at breakfast and dinner. We were also able to get a small lunch one of the days. Special mention to the chef who catered vegetarian food for us with each night at dinner something different. It was delicious and such care and attention to make sure we enjoyed, it was very much appreciated.
The accommodation is on a hill top around 20 minutes down a gravel private road. The directions provided via email were very easy to follow.
We took part in the evening game drive and also hiked on one of the recommended routes around the farm. Both were excellent.
Aloegrove also helped arrange for a visit to Cheetah Conservation Fund.
Cannot recommend Aloegrove enough. Thank you!

We stayed in the self catering house which is completely separate from the main lodge.
The service from Johan, the owner, on our arrival was exceptional.
We loved having the original old farm house with a pool and a braai lapa all to our ourselves to relax after a long day's driving.

Really nice chalets with indoor bbq and all equipment provided. Small pool but beautiful views. Staff kind and helpful. 2 hr Tour is one cheetah one lion and one leopard. The lodge is located up on a hill with a beautiful view, nice food and a big range of animals. Even the feeding of the big cats can be experienced on the game drive.

The apartment has a nice, big bathroom with a stunning view and a bathtub right in front of the window. Also there is a kitchen with a fireplace a fridge and equipment for hot beverages.

It's a fine family-owned logde

Upon arrival we were welcomed in a friendly, helpful way. We had the pleasure of staying in a beautiful room with an amazing view. Management was also extremely friendly and humble. We had an opportunity to see the lion and cheetah feeding, it was a exhilarating experience. We will definitely want to go visit again.

Answer from Aloegrove
Otjiwarongo, Namibia
Yes there is a big difference The Oasis house is for bigger groups travelling on lower budged, do camping most of the time and would like to sleep in a bed for a change still doing self catering but more luxurious. Up to 8 people in a 4bedroom house. The self cater Bugalows is only for max4 like 2 adults and 2 kids sleeping in one room. These rooms is much more luxurious with a beautiful view but more expensive. Here you can order extra meals if you would like to but not at the Oasis House.
