Sodere has the potential to be such a great resort. With the scenery & natural hot springs, this place could be a 5 star health resort. From the hour and a half wait at the check in desk, to the dusty & unclean rooms, to...More

absolutely amazing place and you can tell it really benefits the local community. The food worked really well and you got to know the local people really well. Shops near by were small and useless but if you stay at the hotel it was fine.

During the Oromo troubles last year someone planted a farm tractor at the entrance to the Resort and set fire to the vehicle. The inferno was so hot the asphalt softened and the tractor sank into the road. It is still there as a rusted relic and seriously scared the resort staff at the time. The government extended the initial 6 month state of emergency set down in October 2016, by 3 months. So until that is lifted - say end of June 2017, I would imagine that tractor will remain there.
