I was fortunate enough to spend two weeks at Down to Earth Guesthouse and it was the perfect stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and welcoming. They even allowed me to use their private kitchens to cook as the rooms do not come with cooking facilities (microwave, fridge and kettle are provided). The best part of the stay was the location. Everything you needed was no more than 2km away - everything from gyms (x2 crossfits and virgin active), at least 10 different restaurants and cafes, bars, the main university campus, Spar and petrol stations. I literally did not need to start my vehicle for the entire 2 weeks.
Overall a great stay and definitely recommended.

The room was basic but with all we needed. Rusks were delicious! Owners were friendly. No fuzz, you can do your thing. It is close to all you need. Parking space can get a bit hectic when all the rooms are occupied.

We had a conference at the University And were looking for something nearby. This was an affordable option. The rooms are spacious And well equipped. No breakfast is served at this place. You can park your car safely inside.

I was extremely impressed with the suite-style rooms. They are very spacious and private. This guest house is conveniently located and the owners have gone out of their way to make coming and going as easy as possible for the guests without comprising on safety.

I'll definitely be back!

We visited Down to Earth on a family holiday, supporting a sports tournament at the local North-West University Campus. We were 4 adults and 2 infants travelling together.

Hannes, the owner, is incredibly helpful and accommodating of our needs (travelling with 2 kids under 2 is no easy feat). We always felt very welcome and that our needs were taken into account, without having anyone watch over your shoulder.

The rooms are large and spacious, and we had a room with a large, master bedroom, a bathroom (shower, no bath) and a large communal lounge area which doubled as a bedroom with 2 beds and a couch. Our major issue with the room was the lack of cooking facilities, although there was a very nice braai area and many great food places around town.

Down to Earth is very centrally located, but away from the hustle of the main road. It really was a nice, quiet spot and would be good for anyone visiting the university or schools in the area. The rates are good value and provide excellent amenities and service for what they charge.

We very much enjoyed our stay.

I booked this guesthouse for the reasonable rates, since we planned to stay for almost 2 weeks. I was pleasantly surprised when I realised the guesthouse has the best location in Potchefstroom. Very close to the university and shops. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The room was basic and clean, we really did not need more than what was provided. I felt very safe here. My kids will be at university for the next 6+ years , I am happy to make Down to Earth my house in Potch for the next few years. Oh and the free wifi was great!

I stayed at Down to Earth twice now when visiting my son who is a student at North West University and would have stayed there more often if there had been rooms available... this is a very popular guesthouse literally within walking distance of the University and the adjacent shops/banks and is thus often fully booked. It has a peaceful atmosphere and i have found the owners very helpful and accommodating: I travelled there all the way from Durban and they waited for me to book in, even though it was after the official booking-in time. Parking can be a bit tricky, however it is very secure and under-cover. Access to the property is via remote-control and all units are serviced daily by very friendly and efficient staff. I will definitely recommend their accommodation - clean, comfortable, quiet and tastefully decorated. Prices for the units are reasonable and I consider it good value for money
