Jacaranda House takes its name from the magnificent tree dominating the front garden of this Cape Victorian style house situated on a large 3,000 m plot close to the centre of Darling. Around 100 years old and owned by David and Jane, the property has undergone extensive renovations, sympathetically carried out in order to preserve its original character and heritage.

Both Jane & David made us feel very welcome at their delightful B&B. Definitely worth booking here if you are planning a stay in Darling. We stayed in the Cottage which has a separate lounge and kitchen area, a comfortable bed and nice powerful shower. (Sadly no air con - but ceiling fans). It overlooks the pool where there are loungers and pool towels. Jane is a professional chef and breakfast is certainly a highlight. Lovely fresh fruit, homemade cakes and jams and hot dishes made to order. Jane has an outstanding wealth of knowledge of the local area - listen to all her recommendations and you won't go wrong. Can definitely recommend Darling Brewery and the olive tasting. Also take a 20 mins drive to Yzerfontein - 16 mile empty sandy beach. Restaurants are within walking distance.

This delightful B&B was very welcoming. We had a separate little guest house overlooking the pool. One of the owners is a chef and the food at breakfast was delicious particularly the home made biscotti.

My husband surprised me with a sleepover in Darling this weekend past. We had a small, cute and cozy room with homebaked cookies. No television set in the room so bring your board games with :) The morning we took a nice refreshing swim in the pool and then Jane prepared the most delicious breakfast for us. The croissants was homemade aswell as the jams on the table. (the homemade lemon curd gave me goosebumps - its to die for) The fruit which they served was as fresh as fresh can be. Two lovely people with a beautiful little place where you definitely feel at home.

From the booking process to the farewell, we were made to feel like part of the family at Jacaranda House. Jane and Dave are welcoming from the first meeting and the facility is warm and homely. Everything is thought of and provided, even a local sherry is laid on. Breakfast is a big part of the stay over and one can literally order anything and the hosts go out of their way to provide. We will definitely be back soon.

We stayed here on the recommendation of friends and were so very pleased we took their advice. Our room was really a small cottage with a good sitting area and kitchen as well as the bedroom and bathroom so we were very comfortable despite the chilly weather which made sitting out on the little patio overlooking the pool impossible. The owners, Jane and David, were so helpful and thoughtful. Breakfast is superb and as, between them, they know all there is to know about Darling and the surrounding area they could give us advice on where to go and, thanks to them, we got to some very interesting places that most tourists would not know to visit.

Thank you Gill and Stephen. It was great having you stay with us and we are so happy that you enjoyed visiting Darling and South Africa. It's really nice when guests take the time to comment about our B&B. Because it is me and Jane that deal exclusively with our guests your comments are about us and we always feel personally rewarded when things have gone well. I know it was originally your intention to make it a one off visit to SA but I hope it whetted your appetite for returning at some stage. Keep well and best wishes, David & Janel
