great location for sure, and breakfast was good. Much of the hotel experience was though disappointing....room wasn't ready (with beds for the girls, I had phoned in prior); couch in room was also broken when pulled out for a bed; basics not available (passion fruit and lime cordials). Overall just felt the hotel / rooms needed more maintenance and a thorough spring clean or similar to be at a reasonable standard.

We had a good time at the Halyards. Good food, excellent service and clean rooms. The boat rice was very nice too. Their seafood buffet was especially delicious and they are quick to assist if you need help.

The location and atmosphere ,the chef and kitchen staff and reception were excellent, we had a great boat cruise with Rasta. The food was delicious. The only downside of the Hotel was the rooms, the need serious renovations ,including the bathrooms, the doors and the bathrooms they are too old and not nice at all, you should really consider that and also having a backup for the rooms during load shedding.

The general maintenance of hotel has not been done for approximately 10 years by the looks of it. Enmities in the room is appalling, paying extra for an aircon room, but aircon not working at all. Bath taps not working at all. We could not use the bath at all. Toilet running 24/7. Carpets is filthy, would not walk bare feet on it. Checking out on 1st of January, we were told that breakfast will only be served from 07h00, but on check in we were informed breakfast is from 06h00. Being a hotel in a holiday destination without a bar fridge to keep even water cold, is unacceptable. We would personally never stay there again.

Although the rooms are large and have really good views, the property really screamed that it had been closed for a while and was completely unloved.
The whole impression was that the property is completely outdated and needs a complete upgrade throughout.
The pool area was acceptable and looked very nice the water was clean and sparkling.
Breakfasts and light lunches were very good but after the first night we avoided eating dinner there are fortunately many other good eateries close by.
The bar was again old and dated with limited stock no draught beer available.
The bar staff and the breakfast waiter were very obliging .

I booked the couples special for two nights. We were incredibly disappointed by the state of the hotel, run down and dilapidated. The rooms carpet was lifting, the ceiling drooping, the balcony was covered in bird faeces and had no table. The view was the only saving grace. Although the staff tried their best, there is no hope with the hotel in complete disrepair. Banisters peeling, dining room boards rotting, light bulbs hanging out in the room, barely functional shower doors and the jetty about to disintegrate. The boat cruise was lovely as was the spa massage. Breakfast on day one was acceptable however the cereal was completely stale, warm milk and parts of the breakfast was cold. The second day, we had to check if the kitchen was even open it was such a ghost town. No bread, no bakery goods, preset breakfast apparently made to order but came out cold. For the price we paid, it was completely unacceptable. How this hotel has 3 stars is beyond me. A shout out to the staff who really try and do their best but honestly I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The halyards hotel of old is gone. Spend your money elsewhere. Complete disappointment.

We were so excited to stay at such a scenic destination. Only to be met with great disappointment.
When we arrived (15:00) we asked if we could order lunch and we were told the kitchen was closed only to see other patrons after us got served food. We then just ordered a drink and sat at the outside are on brittle rotten wooden chairs. When we got into out room the door frames and bathroom ceiling was peeling off. Our deck chairs were filled with water puddles and debris. Our room had open wall outlets, some covered in shriveled laminated orange paper. When we went down for breakfast our order was wrong and didn't even get an option of coffee or type of toast. Through all of this we greeted each personal with a smile and respect only to be completely ignored by some. The only positive was the lovely receptionist at the front desk.

Having relocated from the Eastern Cape around the time of this hotel's establishment, I was eager to finally experience its offerings in this picturesque locale. However, my excitement quickly waned as disappointments marred my stay from check-in to departure. Initial issues arose with check-in dates, met with a focus on problems rather than solutions. Upon requesting alternative accommodations, my colleague and I were reassigned to other rooms, yet encountered further setbacks; his room featured damp, musty conditions necessitating a swift relocation, while mine, though lacking major issues, suffered from outdated amenities and disrepair, including peeling paint and unkempt bathrooms.

Upon arrival, a lack of towels in my bathroom was promptly reported but not rectified, despite assurances from reception. Subsequent follow-ups yielded dirty replacements, exacerbating discomfort. Regrettably, these shortcomings overshadowed the hotel's potential, rendering our stay unsatisfactory. I am compelled to share this feedback in the hopes that others may avoid similar unpleasant experiences.

I popped in just for a cappuccino way too early in the morning at 6h45am in transit to Alexandria and had the friendliest greeting ever by reception. She took me through to the pool area where the bar staff served me a cappuccino. They were not even yet open...what amazing service! The view is just beautiful looking over the marina.

Improve the room. Replace old bath. bathroom not good. Door safety. Lock not working.
Headboard loose, please secure your headboard. Check your TV. TV not working and no remove in the room. Halyards is in the very attractive location, but your hotel facilities need some improvement.
Staff is good from reception to canteen. Good food.
