Was pleasantly surprised by Wavecrest accommodation. This was and has been one of my best experiences I've ever had. The units are serviced almost daily, the owner was absolute a dream to get along with. The rooms are of a lovely size, the bedding and cleanliness was fantastic. We asked for a braai facility and we were given one. We had a problem with our connection to the DSTV and someone straight away came out to fix it. The accommodation is very good value for money and really beautiful.

Upon a 13 hour trip we arrived at Wavecrest! Absolutely shocking! Photos are stretched making it look bigger when its tiny inside. No braai area as advertised, owner is on your doorstep and is rude! Left straight away and didn't even get a full refund back. The one room was more like a dungeon and had a horrific smell to it. We had to look for accommodation to stay somewhere else after such a long trip. Couldn't believe how rude the owner was! It's more of a communion than self catering luxury rooms. Don't waste your time!

We found the downstairs unit quite comfortable, definitely one of the better places we've stayed in, in Port Alfred. The unit was very neat and clean. We will definitely come again. Thank you for a really nice stay.

Wavecrest is totally misrepresented online. Firstly, this expensive, “luxury” Whale Watch and Divers Den unit is a bachelor’s unit with no separate room and the bed is separated from the fridge by a “divider”. The bathroom is therefore not “en-suite” since it leads from the open area and only equipped with a shower. On arrival, the “en-suite” toilet did not work and it was expected from us to go outside, down very steep and slippery stairs to use a toilet “down-stairs”, definitely not suitable for my pregnant wife. Greta indicated that they can only repair the toilet after a week, but since we stayed for 6 days, and after an uncomfortable argument with an arrogant Greta, the toilet was fixed that day (it was even suggested that we leave if we do not want to accept it to use the toilet down-stairs). The kitchen must be represented as a “kitchenette” since it is not fully equipped, only has a 2plate stove/oven, basics such as a sharp knife or mitten cloths are not supplied, the plates and bowls are all cracked already and the bread toaster did not work either (was replaced after 3 days). The unit is definitely not “luxury” as all the furniture and décor dates back to the 80’s (except for the tv and one newly built cupboard). I had to replace the outside lights as they did not work and there are no safe parking as someone tried braking into my vehicle on day one – since the only parking is in the driveway in front of Greta’s garage (which she uses numerous times per day). There is definitely also not “24 hour security”. This unit is advertised as a “3 adult and 2children sleep” unit, but the dining table only has 2 chairs as well as the “living area”, therefore not more than 2 people can ever dine together or sit and relax to look at the sea. The plastic table and chairs on the balcony are also broken. The fact that Greta stays on the property is nuisance as you will be waken up before 9am to “put off the outside lights”. This unit is not even equipped with an air conditioner. The 30cm compact “braaier” will also not enable you to braai for 5 people. There is also not “wifi” as advertised. The fact that the sewerage tank was also full resulted in a sewerage smell throughout the unit. The ONLY positive of Wavecrest is the view of the sea. This unit may be used (at a much cheaper rate) for overnight staying but must definitely NOT be your final destination, as you will be highly disappointed. Unfortunately we will not visit Wavecrest ever again.

Room Tip: Wavecrest is a "one night only" unit, as you stay in the backyard of the owners house!!!

Extremely helpful owner who assisted me with an internet connection when mine was not working. A great place to stay with lovely walks on the beach just a few meters away. We stayed in the downstairs unit but there apparently is an upstairs one which is larger.
