We booked 10 nights camping at GFF and we had an amazing family holiday in Port Alfred. Marise in the front office was so friendly when we arrived and she had everything sorted with information booklets and our booking form etc. She gave us some helpful info on the surrounds as this was our first time visiting this part of SA.
The actual camp sites are so big and spacious. Lovely grass areas, we had a perfect site near the pool some shade. The private ablutions were perfect. Cleaned every day. The first two days we had no hot water but then the owner sorted it out and the remainder of our time was absolutely perfect with regards to hot showers and washing basin for dishes.
The resort is perfectly situated between Kleinemonde and Port Alfred. We spent Christmas there and it really was wonderful. We went out every day and our set up and all our belongings were perfectly safe. Our kids swam in the pool and played games with the other campers in the lapa. The rates are very reasonable and we will most definitely be returning. Wonderful, thank you!

The campsite of campsites. Big individual campground with your own bathroom with fantastic showers. Own ablutions in the same block. There are no individual braaistands to the campsites but go to information and they will happily organize you one for the evening. You must bring your own wood thou.

There is a swimmingpool on the grounds and day visitors are welcome so weekends can be quite busy. All in all the Green Fountain has all you need as a camper, and at R195 per night/stand it is very reasonable indeed. You are about 11Kms from Port Alfred.

Close to the little town Port Alfred in the Eastern Cape lays this little gem of a Caravan Park, called Green Fountain Farm Resort. The park was designed with the Camper’s convenience on the top of the requirement list. Your site has its own, clean, ablution consisting of a Shower, Bath, Wash Basin and Toilet. There is ample hanging space for clothes or towels as well as a small bench to sit on while changing your shoes. Outside is your washbasin and shelve with double socket outlets. The site is large enough to accommodate even a double axel caravan and the tow vehicle without feeling cramped!
Trees provide shade for quite a few sites and there are lush green lawns all over for children to play. There is a swimming pool, games room and Lapa to keep the young and old occupied.
Security is good and an electric fence and access control provide extra peace of mind for concerned campers. The Staff is friendly and always willing to help, going the extra mile, especially when a Geyser gave problems on Good Friday!

For the bird watchers, book readers, tired of heart, young and vibrant, elderly…..this is the place to come rest, play, braai and just relax to rejuvenate your body and soul.

This was a disappointing and, quite frankly, grim place to stay. I should have realized as soon as we checked in that something was wrong, as the receptionist seemed more interested in receiving payment in full than welcoming us. The chalet was dark and dreary, and the furniture was ancient. Upon arrival, my son sat on the couch and promptly sank to the ground - the springs were completely shot. The wicker chairs were tattered and the bedside lights did not work. As well, the bed linens were scratchy and old. The back porch looked out onto a sad pond that was half empty and overgrown with weeds. To top it off, the ceiling fan in the upstairs bedroom was so loosely attached, my sons were afraid it was going to decapitate them. To give credit, the place was fairly clean and roomy, but the lack of decent furnishings made for an overall uncomfortable stay. I would not recommend the Green Fountain Farm except as a last resort.

Don't believe what you read what is advertised...these self catering units are definitely NOT luxurious or up market. The decor and furniture is outdated and run down.

Expected to book for a minimum of 4 nights, while there are very limited amenities.

See photos:

1. No hot water, geyser burst when we turned it on.
2. Built in braai fell apart in fell on my father, shattering a drinking glass.
3. Hardly any dishwasher left and expected to wash dishes after use else you are billed / fined for not doing so.
4. Kettle doesn't switch off continuously boils and boiling water leaks out of it.
5. Outdated bedding and even older mattress.
6. No tea, coffee and sugar provided.
7. Headboard lights don't work.
8. Rusted closed shower head, can't even have a decent shower.
9. Shower covered in spider webs...wonder when that was last cleaned?
10. Black mildew all over shower and shower ceiling.
11. Light fittings never been cleaned, full of dead insects.
12. Very old and damaged furniture.
13. Inside of wardrobes covered in spider webs.
14. Toilet base is lose from the floor.
15. Wash hand basin tap lose.
16. Shower taps don't show hot and cold.
17. Bottom kitchen door doesn't lock.
18. Remote control broken.
19. Toilet roll holder and towel rail
loose and come off the wall.
20. Bedroom window broken and cannot open.
21. Refer to previous review from 2014 where the dam was dry...it's still dry 2 years later. Definitely no green fountain!

This resort offers camping and Chalets. We were traveling in our motorhome and arrived in the mid afternoon for a one night stay. What a pleasant surprise. Each campsite has its own private ablutions and scullery, the stands are well grassed and fairly level. The also have a play area for the children and a nice pool. On arrival the site manager approached us and checked our facility before fetching a nice braai for us to make fire in. We will return here again.

We have stayed at Green Fountain Farm Resort very often and can really recommend it for a peaceful holiday in the countryside. The chalets are big and well equipped, clean and comfortable, the grounds well maintained. The Owners and staff are very nice and extremely helpful. Perfect place, and the rates are soo low, you get much more for your money than elsewhere.

I had a wonderful stay at GFF and the staff was exceptional. Its just outside Port Alfred so it is close enough should you need anything and far enough to get the holiday feeling. The units are well equipped and the very clean. Whenever I needed anything management went out of their way to help me. I would highly recommend staying here on a visit to Port Alfred.
