We had a thoroughly lovely stay at the Kowie River Guest House with it's very stylish decor, attention to detail, good security, delightful breakfasts costing just a bit more, beautiful secure balcony setting with table and chairs, and cooking and washing up facilities with breathtaking views of the Kowie River, garden, pool, deck and deckchairs. Ditte and partner were delightful and super helpful regarding access to the town and easily available in a really caring way. Would definitely return when able, a real gem we were lucky to find. Our room was cleaned and restocked daily with fresh ground coffee, rusks, milk, towels etc. Thank you for helping to make our trip really wonderful.

This was a 3 night stopover in Port Alfred on the Eastern Cape Coastline’s Kowie River.
We were warmly greeted by Owners Graham and Dieter on our arrival and shown to our lovely accommodation which included a private patio overlooking the pool and garden area which borders the banks of the Kowie River.
Our very comfortable self catering accommodation with good facilities including a gas weber on the patio , had all the frills of a four star venue ! We were thrilled to hear from Graham that we could order a hot-plated full English breakfast with fruit yoghurt and extras including cuppachino for an additional cost to the accommodation and this would be delivered to our patio by two friendly and efficient staff between 8-9am ( ordered the day before by 6pm ). We so enjoyed starting our summers day with their delicious breakfast while enjoying the view from the patio, watching the activity on the water.
A most enjoyable 3 nights at Kowie River Guest Lodge to chill, read and explore the area and sample the delicious dinners on offer by various restaurants recommended by our charming hosts Graham & Dieter.
We can highly recommend this well positioned accommodation to those visiting Port Alfred. Thanks for your great friendly and efficient service. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay 🤗

Was very pleased to have found this place to stay - gorgeous spot on the river where you can watch the sunsets, lovely room and bathroom and amazing hosts who couldn't have been kinder & more helpful. The breakfasts are deliciously huge & a definite must, more than enough to keep you going for most of the day. The fridge is restocked every day with fresh milk and bottled water. Fresh clean linen daily too.

Ditte and Graham were especially welcoming hosts who offered a peaceful, neat environment. The guesthouse is located along the river, with beautiful views of the sunset. Ideal location to relax next to the pool or river, with woodfired or gas braai, and the option to walk to restaurants nearby. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, and can be delivered to your room. Would definitely visit again.

This was a beautifully decorated guest house with individual private balconies and view of the river. The style of accommodation allowed for a private braai if you wished. Access to river area was easy and location is in a quite spot away from the hustle and bustle. A short 5 min drive will take you to beach. Each room was equipped with a small plunger and real coffee.....an added bonus

Our short stay at Kowie River Guest House was simply wonderful! The view of the Kowie River from our room was absolutely mesmerizing, creating a serene and tranquil atmosphere. The property itself was impeccably clean and well-maintained, and the sparkling pool was a refreshing oasis on a warm day. The friendly staff made us feel right at home, providing exceptional service throughout our visit. We left with beautiful memories and a desire to return for a longer stay. Our stay at Kowie River Guest House was beyond our expectations. The location and view of the river was spectacular, we enjoyed our sumptuous breakfast sitting on the patio whilst watching the Geese and Goslings foraging on the river bank. In the evening we had the pleasure of seeing the 'resident' Goliath Heron wading through the water in search of fish and frogs. The room was clean and comfortable, thank you.

A lovely warm welcome, a beautiful setting and a stunning room. Attention to detail. The extremely well appointed room looks onto the Kowie River and what a magic place to watch the sun go down. If you want to self cater and not visit one of the restaurants nearby there is a gas Weber and all the utensils. They also offer the option of breakfast (absolutely delicious) and this is served on the patio in your room. We had a little vehicle battery problem which our hosts sorted out for us. Thank you Ditte and Graham for a wonderful stay and we'll be back.

We had the best time in Port Alfred over the Christmas period. The guest house had absolutely everything we needed and the additional self catering features were an added bonus. The room is so luxurious, it felt like we were on honeymoon and the location was fantatsic. I would highly recommend it if you visiting Port Alfred.

Our stay was really great. The Guest House is well situated in a quiet are within walking distance to restaurants. The room was very well apointed, with self catering facilities (gas weber on the patio!). Breakfast is very good, served on your patio with silver cutlery! Sunets over the river are the best. We have been to Port Alfred on a few occasions over the years and the Kowie River Guest House is the best we have experienced by a fair margin!
