We recently visited Mpekweni for 5 nights over Dec/Jan 2019/2020.
We will definitely return.
We booked a luxury family room. The room was spacious and had everything we needed. Very luxurious.
Food was outstanding !
The kids club provided activities for the children all day and the PRO’s were amazing with the kids.
Staff were warm and welcoming at all times.
The hotel put together a show stopper New Year’s Eve bash with entertainment and a decorated dinning hall. We loved every minute.
We will definitely be returning ❤️

Enjoyed a relaxing long weekend at this fantastic resort - beautiful pool area, beach frontage, excellent catering and exceptionally attentive staff. Attended a private event hosted onsite - world class! Special thanks to Colin and Nicolette, our wonderful resort hosts.

We booked this place for my moms birthday weekend and we are so happy that they enjoyed themselves! It was so worth it. Yvette was amazing and so helpful and answered any questions I had. I would definitely recommend this beautiful and serene place.

I stayed here in November 2024 and had issues with the airconditioner and Wifi in my unit. On my current stay I have the same issues as last time. I have logged an issue twice with no real outcome or communication. Unable to sleep in the humid and hot room while an airconditioner is available in the room and advertised.

As we hold your room comfort in high regard, we have maintenance on duty 18 hours a day and in the rare event that the air conditioner is faulty we have new units on standby to swap out.

Really nice pool to relax and enjoy the day and you can have your meals and drinks delivered there as well. Island style, next to the trees. There's also a children's pool next to it. The beach is right there too. A great putt-putt course for the whole family. The food is out of this world, every meal a show stopper. The Saturday evening buffet supper was especially good. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff go the extra mile and even brought more milk for my tea in the room. And shared the receipe with me for the best potato salad I've ever had. We loved using the peddle boats on the river on the Friday afternoon, unfortunately we couldn't use any of the boats on the Saturday morning, as there was a wedding at 4pm next to the river and the wedding guests removed the boats. We'd love to go for another weekend away one day. It's on the bucket list. Plenty to do for the whole family.

Stopped over for a night on our way to East London. The evening meal was a help yourself buffet. Lots of choice through all the courses. really good value. Highlight of the evening was the entertainment. Two local lads, one on an electric organ the other singing. The guy singing had such an incredible voice, an amazing range. Everyone was spellbound. The breakfast was again, help yourself, as much as you wanted.

Spacious rooms and bathroom. Quiet open beaches. Well prepared conference rooms and friendly staff. Massive open restaurant with a buffet breakfast and dinner and lounges in the bar area .The staff are all friendly and professional. No complaints

We stayed at the Rish River Villas (self-catering), which is part of Mpekweni Beach Resort, but is situated opposite the Fish River Sun Resort. So...we were allowed to use the facilites of both resorts at no extra cost - included canoeing, beach fun, hiking, tennis & squash, puttputt, heated swimming pool, junglegym & trampoline, kids play area with babysitter...and much more!
My two boys crashed into bed with smiles on their faces.
In addition the 'villas' have modern finishes and wide open grass areas with a volleyball court, swimming pool and braai facilities.
The staff were friendly and helpful - particularly at the Fish River Sun. But BEWARE the monkeys (!) and golf balls :)
We had favour with the weather, but being 'out of season' (as well as the past weeks of rain) there was quite a bit of maintanance being carried out.
Ready for 'reality' again.

This hotel has a great location. However, for business meetings it doesn't provide internet and therefore a long stay is not recommended. I stayed for a week and was unable to do any work which required internet connections. In this day and age, this is a minimum especially when catering to business groups.

The Setting, Food, Staff and general service at Mpekweni Beach Resort is all of an extremely high standard! Friendly Staff are always on hand when needed and one never gets the feeling they are imposing on your personal space.
One criticism (I would like to note that the hotel and its staff cannot be held responsible for this however i would encourage prospective guests to inquire as to what conferences will be taking place during their stay) There seemed to be a few conferences/team buildings taking place during our two night stay. Government employees attending some sort of team building weekend were the pick of the bunch. Loud and Boisterous members of this group destroyed any peace and quiet around the pool area and any other area they found themselves in. They appeared to be drinking there own liquor that they had smuggled onto the premises and on one occasion whilst trying to read my book, one of the loud women had gone for a swim with a co-worker who was at best a novice swimmer. She then slipped into the deep end and started drowning. After rescuing her i did not receive any thank you whatsoever.
These conferences are obviously what keep the hotel in such good condition compared to hotels along the wild coast so i do understand their value but for a family or couple looking for a relaxing weekend away, this is not the place to be when large conferences are taking place.
