Service is quality, the location especially for people who reside inland is breath taking. neatness of the place is tops and we enjoyed our stay. definitely coming back. It would be nice if the Port Alfred area would have more activities around,
We had a couple of nights in Port Alfred and enjoyed this calm little seaside town. There was nothing much open on a Sunday so that restricted our eating options. This Villa de Mer underwhelmed us. It is in a great position near the beach and it is an imposing building which was easy to find. The first thing that hits you are the white tiles on every floor. Our room was OK but the bathroom looked like an afterthought. We were disappointed with the room size after our expectations had been raised by the Trip Advisor reviews and photos. Breakfast was very average with fruit and a hot option was served that lacked quality components. (Bacon strips instead of the real thing). The pool was the biggest disappointment. It looks sparkling on the website. In actuality there was a sort of oily scum on the surface which remained during our stay. The handy man came to help clean it but he gave up and shouted at the hotel dog in frustration. There may be restrictions over water use in the area but that does not stop the pool being cleaned properly. For what we paid the stay at Vill de Mer was just OK but there must be better in the area. Would we return? Probably not.…
Whilst the sea view upstairs room we stayed in for 2 nights was excellent the lower one was a little in need of upgrading . Windows were not clean and I realise it may have been close proximity to the sea but I don’t think they had been cleaned for sometime. Areas in the bathrooms rusty. Showers v slow to drain. Pool could have been cleaner. Having said that we enjoyed our stay.
An enjoyable 3 night stay at A Villa de Mer in Port Alfred. Right across the road from the beach with lovely views and an immaculate property. The guesthouse is very close to a blue flag beach and the beach walks in the early morning and late afternoon were spectacular
Spent two nights around New Year 2020. Room, staff and the area were very nice. The beach is amazing and perfect for long walks. A few good restaurants can be found nearby even walking distance. Would have enjoyed the place even more by spending one more night
