We were very happy as we had room no 1 which had a spacious bathroom, large bath and a separate large shower . The bedroom was very comfortable and we had two very comfortable chairs that faces the sea. The room also had a small fridge should you require one and a balcony with a beautiful view.

Perfect for a couple,i cannot fault anything ,the location and room was beyong my expectation with friendly staff. The place is neat and tidy,the beds are comfortable with clean linen. The location is close to amenities and has a beach view,walking distance to the beach,our vehicle was safely locked in a garage. Great service for breakfast we were all treated neutral.Also on arrival we were assisted with the location came late but the lady was very friendly.

We had a couple of nights in Port Alfred and enjoyed this calm little seaside town. There was nothing much open on a Sunday so that restricted our eating options.
This Villa de Mer underwhelmed us. It is in a great position near the beach and it is an imposing building which was easy to find. The first thing that hits you are the white tiles on every floor. Our room was OK but the bathroom looked like an afterthought. We were disappointed with the room size after our expectations had been raised by the Trip Advisor reviews and photos.
Breakfast was very average with fruit and a hot option was served that lacked quality components. (Bacon strips instead of the real thing).
The pool was the biggest disappointment. It looks sparkling on the website. In actuality there was a sort of oily scum on the surface which remained during our stay. The handy man came to help clean it but he gave up and shouted at the hotel dog in frustration. There may be restrictions over water use in the area but that does not stop the pool being cleaned properly.
For what we paid the stay at Vill de Mer was just OK but there must be better in the area.
Would we return? Probably not.

I can never get over our stay at Villa, if I could turn back the hands of time I would go back and even overstay my welcome. The hosts were awesome and the atmosphere is everything the soul needs.
I have only one suggestion though, to offer self catering service and be able to cook for ourselves as there are a few restaurants if not at all, who sell proper home cooked meals.

We stayed at Villa de Mer and found the communication prior and during our booking with Magda fabulous. There are housekeeping issues that needed to be addressed and were done so efficiently. The breakfast team, Magda and the 2 ladies that assisted her were always cheerful and friendly. The only small issue I had, was that the pool needed to be cleaned, but due to the water issues in the province, it was difficult to do. Beautiful view of the sea from our room

An enjoyable 3 night stay at A Villa de Mer in Port Alfred. Right across the road from the beach with lovely views and an immaculate property.
The guesthouse is very close to a blue flag beach and the beach walks in the early morning and late afternoon were spectacular

The guest house has a lovely position, and I enjoyed my morning walk on the beach. Magda was very helpful and informative. Unfortunately I didn’t stay for breakfast, but it smelled good!
The room is large and well equipped, but the towels are totally threadbare which makes it feel rather poorly maintained.

We had spent time at the Villa der Mer last year so it was an easy choice to return there on our visit this year. The location is perfect as the beach is just a short walk from the house. The bed was comfortable, the room clean and we had a view of the sea. There was a lovely hot shower. Also there was no shortage of plugs so charging phones etc was no problem. We were treated to a delicious breakfast the next morning. Our host was very friendly and attentive. We will certainly stay there again.

The fully equipped shared kitchen is a place ypu can cook up a storm in if you want to. Pool is nice and clean. Room 5 is huge with a stunning window facade overlooking the sea. You can just feast your eyes.
