Unforgivable: when we arrived with our booking confirmation we were informed they had sold our room to a previous guest. With a half-hearted apology they offered us a broom-cupboard of a room at a fraction less. Take it or leave it; we left it. It feels as though they've been in business too long to care -- a marked contrast to most of the friendly and helpful hosts we encounter in South Africa.
The location is easily accessible and very close to everything. Last minute booking. Price was decent. Check in was effortless. Warm welcome and I enjoyed the openness and accessibility to use amenities. The view from the balcony is stunning. Make sure you have cash because card facilities not always working at the premises. Only downside was other guests were extremely noisy and walls are paper-thin so hard to sleep. Other then that awesome venue and a enjoyable stay.
Nice place, conveniently located, just two steps from the ocean. It has a beautiful terrace with the ocean view. The breakfast is good, although it’d be better if they asked about bacon and eggs (we’ve already had it for a few days in a row as a typical SA breakfast).
As the name states the view from a top the dune is so beautiful and tranquil.... sitting on the deck as the sun goes down is the perfect way to end your day... the owners are really friendly and welcoming. The home is tastefully decorated that make you feel right at home. I will definitely visit again.
Not often you arrive at accomodation these days with the enthusiams and hospitality like Dune House offers. The room and bathroom was spacious, comfortable and clean. As well as a hot cup of coffee and great breakfast. This will be my new "home" when visiting port alfred.
