The Bay hotel is celebrated for its charming atmosphere and stunning location, with guests often lauding the tranquil beachside setting and picturesque sunsets. Many find the rooms comfortable, offering rewarding views from the upper floors, although some guests suggest room enhancements. While the pool area and food receive positive remarks, issues with pool access and amenities have been noted. Service is friendly but sometimes inconsistent, and opinions on value are mixed. Stayed 4 nights last week. Restaurant is very good (pricey by local standard but better food than some other “premium” options in the area), they get many reservations for restaurant from people not staying at the hotel. Terrific vibe with small property in residential
neighbourhood right on the beach. Sunset cocktails are a must! Rooms and property is essentially a rustic beach chic vibe, probably best for couples and solo travellers but the beach and smallish pool could entertain families. Included breakfast was excellent. 2 minor areas I would recommend addressing - start breakfast before 7:30am (just too late for some and killer for jet lagged travellers that are up at 4am and sitting in their room with nothing else open nearby) and recommend being more diligent about having someone always at the reception (frequently nobody there later in evening or early morning - need to track someone down...). Overall great spot that I would go back to anytime.

We spent 11 nights at The Bay and loved the cool vibe and the family-run team can't do enough for you. The Bay is in a good position in Tamarin and has a popular restaurant right on the water's edge, visited by locals at weekends too.

There are other restaurants within a 10-15 minute walk if you want to eat out. Turn left at the main road.

To explore this lush and magical island, we recommend hiring a car and there's a family-run car hire company close to the nearby restaurants with very reasonable rates.

The Bay is right on the beach, which is a public one and we felt at peace to walk along and enjoy swims.

If you want to relax and unwind, The Bay is the place and there were mostly couples here from Europe and South Africa.

Right from the reservations to the service delivery while at the hotel, the Bay staff have been exceptional. Aurélie the hotel manager and Shweta at reception, went above and beyond to ensure that our large party and confusing reservation requirements would be fulfilled.

We arrived extremely late due to long immigration lines at the airport and the fact that the hotel is more than an hour away. By the time we arrived at the hotel, Chef Patrice was on his way out. We did not know that there are extremely strict dining timings and no room service at the hotel. But we explained that we had been travelling and hadn't eaten anything and he made a huge exception for us. He whipped up the best grilled cheese sandwiches I've ever had in my life. Thanks, Chef.

Our room was extremely clean and if we ever had a problem the hotel staff were welcoming of feedback and quick to act. We booked a Terrace Room on the top floor which had a fantastic view. We spent very little time on the terrace because the beach seemed like a private beach just for the hotel and it was much nicer than sitting on the terrace. Each room comes with: a TV, private safe, mini bar which is replenished daily; in the bathroom: a hair dryer and shaving plug, hand soap, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner (all of which are available for sale). Any time we had a problem we would tell someone from the staff and they would sort it out. Usually I'd bump into Arshad on the hotel grounds and inform him of whatever we may require. The hotel staff are extremely accommodating.

The Restaurant serves a limited but delicious menu. It is pertinent to reserve seating at the restaurant beforehand because it is always fully booked. Anoushka, our daily waitress, was always on the ball to make sure our large party had a table. And Flerino and Jonathan were the friendly barmen who made sure our drinks were flowing throughout the day. Thank you both.

I would suggest letting the hotel staff know whether there are any mobility issues in your party because there are no elevators and the hotel will ensure you have a room on the ground floor. Also inform the staff of any dietary preferences because they go out of their way to ensure your needs are met. My senior aunt truly appreciated Eric & Ashley's daily assistance in ensuring she received her vegetarian meals.

The hotel rules are that food is strictly prohibited in the rooms. They are not trying to be difficult - the reason for this rule is that there are lots of ants all over the island and though the hotel does their best to control them, having food in our rooms was an open invitation to ants all night long. We were looking forward to eating our leftover pizza from dinner but the ants enjoyed it before we could get to it. Sorry for not heeding your warning, The Bay.

Overall, beautiful and serene place. Can't wait to be back.

We stayed at The Bay for six nights during the first week in November. We were a family of four (2 adults and 2 kids, aged 8 and 11). We shared a beautifully decorated, spacious terrace room which looked out over the very pretty pool and the ocean. The hotel is everything you could want. Put simply it is understated luxury. The beds were comfortable with crisp linen and soft pillows. The rooms were spotless and well equipped with nespresso machines, fridges, robes, fans and aircon. The hotel is beautifully, but simply designed, welcoming and relaxed. The outdoor spaces all overlook the Ocean and you can alternate a dip in the ocean, some snorkelling or the pool all day long. We opted for a half board stay and enjoyed the flexibility to either eat lunch or dinner at the hotel. The menu is great, with a good mix of simple international food and local cuisine. Portions are very generous and the staff are attentive and kind. We hired a car and explored the local area and he nearby mountains. The hotel helped us book watersports lessons and an incredible trip to see the nearby pods of dolphins. The hotel restaurant is open to non-residents, which we liked. Some guests had friends for lunch and others were just locals enjoying a night out. All in all the mix made for a super atmosphere. We really didn't want to leave.

The reception staff were super helpful and made me feel really welcome in this quite beautiful boutique hotel for 3 days with high levels of standards to attending to any of my hotel needs.

The restaurant was beachfront and had amazing sunsets and ambiance, the staff and restaurant managers were real professionals and the meals were 5-star meals!

The beach is just right in front of the restaurant and can be seen from several rooms with views.

Absolutely worth the money if you asked me!

The room was clean and airy. We had a view across the pool and restaurant area of the hotel and out to the beach/ocean.

The room was comfortable and in-room amenities were good. There was complimentary tea, coffee and bottled water (glass not plastic) with an option for a pay-for mini bar.

We had a relaxing time and chilled at the bar and lounge seating. The staff were attentive and got to know our preferred drinks very quickly. Very impressive bearing in mind we were only staying for a couple of days.

The food was good. We stayed on a half-board option choosing to have the dinner rather than lunch option.

We would consider returning to the hotel for another stay. It was generally quiet with most guests being couples.

We were little disappointed upon check in as we requested a room with a good view but got a room with view on the water tank. The reception lady told us they were fully booked but unfortunately there were counting only 6 guests in the hotel and she even took time to show us another room but still no view at all. Anyways we were both hoteliers and since we were at the Bay to celebrate our engagement we did not argued further on that particular point. Thus my fiancee and me, we thought positively towards having a good relaxing escape. We started to settle in our room, the safe was faulty, the bed was twin with only a cover to merge the beds, and the tv as well was not programmed. I called the reception to say about the issues and I started with the safe and the same reception lady said "personne pas pou rentre dans ou lasam" and I did not bother myself to inform for the TV nor the bed and hung down. We decided to dine outside so as not to focus on the particular issues. However The hotel itself is very calm and cosy. The restaurant is well situated to have view on the horizon while having breakfast and we got a good service and if I remember the name well it was Sahil who served us. Further, the pool is small but since not many guests in house on that particular day we could enjoy the pool for ourselves. Last not least I was happy to meet back a collegue from Heritage (Eric) who organised a LCO for us but unfortunately we left around 13hr as we heard many cases of Covid 19 in the island where 2 days after was a Total Confinement all over the island.

The Bay is a perfect hideaway, beautifully tranquil, ideally located, very comfortable rooms - right on the beach. Good restaurant, lovely pool area to relax and nice beach to walk along. Every amenity has been thought of, there was even a beach basket in our room. Friendly staff and the owners are very hands on - we loved our stay.

For someone coming from wintercold Northern Europe, we couldn‘t imagine a better place to escape all of it and dive into the tropical warmth of the Indian Ocean. The Bay has all we wished for: a relaxed atmosphere, a perfect location, where you can walk barefoot to the beach, great architecture, a friendly crew, a sinple-but-good restaurant, fishermen next door, who anchor next door and butcher their tuna right in front you, plus a lagoon where lots of fishes seem to be just waiting for you. Perfect in every respect.

Highly recommended if you want a break. The food at the inhouse restaurant is very good. I would recommend half board and try to visit local restaurants around for lunch.

It is possible to swim in the sea. It was calm during the week we were there, very clear. We saw people snorkeling and swimming.
