We booked a sea facing family room. It was a lovely room with a balcony and an awesome ocean view that I thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the balcony with my coffee every morning. The room definitely needs some upgrading but it was a lovely stay. The activities at the hotel were also lovely and the kids absolutely loved the hotel pool when not at the waterpark. The beach was so lovely but that steep walk back was not fun at all. I suggest you have a shuttle to the riverside cruise instead of making guests walk or drive there. Also the restaurant at the pool needs to open earlier than 12 as it is too long to wait if you have had breakfast at 7. Kids cannot wait that long and they get up early. Overall our stay was great though. The kids had a blast.

My recent stay at the Wild Coast Sun offered much to be admired, but some areas did leave room for significant improvement. The hotel boasts an array of commendable amenities that made for a delightful stay. The gaming area was a personal highlight, offering a wide variety of entertainment options that catered to all preferences, ensuring there was never a dull moment. From traditional table games to modern slot machines, the entertainment was top-tier and created an exciting atmosphere for patrons. The food, too, was noteworthy for its quality and variety. Several restaurants on-site offered a diverse range of dining options, catering to an array of tastes and dietary needs. Each meal was a gastronomic delight, featuring both local and international dishes prepared to a high standard. Unfortunately, the impressive facilities were not complemented by the service. The reception was, in a word, disappointing. Long wait times were a constant issue, turning even the simplest tasks into tedious chores. Moreover, the attitude of the staff at reception left a lot to be desired. A hospitality establishment is, at its core, about providing a warm, welcoming environment, and in this regard, the Wild Coast Sun fell short. The lack of effective customer service was disheartening and contrasted starkly with the otherwise top-notch amenities. There is a clear need for improvements in staff training and reception management. The hotel's potential to provide an unparalleled guest experience is evident, and I believe that addressing these issues would go a long way in achieving that potential. In summary, while the Wild Coast Sun shines with its amenities, dining options, and gaming area, it is overshadowed by the disappointing reception service. With a little improvement in that area, this could easily become a top-notch destination.

Check in process continues to be a nightmare despite complaints. Long queues with barely any staff. Never allocated a room that one requests online. Chico’s restaurant service has not changed. Tureens are empty, both at breakfast and dinner. No one checks. No managers can be seen. Staff on the floor ignore requests or walk away arrogantly. As if our food is free. Customer service generally is going to the dogs. Really sad to see this institution in this state. How you are rated as a 4 star establishment, beats me.

There is a laissez-faire attitude from check-in to check-out. The staff at reception are badly trained or plainly negligent. As for the rooms - for the love of sanity, they ALL need to rehabilitated! The gaming area is populated by newer staff with an entitled attitude and dismissive approach to customer service. It's a sad state of affairs and would advise anyone to avoid till Managment get this site into order as the potential is there but there's no will to get it right presently.

We did a day trip to the pool area and the maltos poolside Resturant. Such a stunning place, spacious poolside and amenities. The monkeys have really become dependant on the sugar packets and food being served. Don't know how this can be sorted but it is quite detrimental to the guests in the pool and dining areas. The options on menu are a lot but portions are so little for the price being paid Drinks also very pricey.

The service is quiet disgusting. No one answers the phone for room service , you cannot get through to switchboard, the batteries in the remote for the tv are dying, you cannot get an iron or ironing board to the room, you must go to a communal ironing room even if you are staying with kids and nearly all of your staff behave as tho they are doing guest a favour! For the price people pay please send your apathetic staff on training! I would like some feedback regarding this. We can all excuse the run down facilities and the deteriorating cupboards and bathrooms, the 4th floor Chiccos sad buffet and calls itself “VIP”, and nearly all the blue mats for the mat racer slides are torn at the handles?? At the price you charge guests, can you not replace these mats? Also the pools where the orange and blue body slides are is disgustingly murky. When last did you clean this or replace the water???... all of these can be excused but the disgusting attitude of your staff is inexcusable because it completely ruined our stay. Every little contact we had with them was distasteful and disrespectful. And, please remove that tired blonde lady from the reception area, she should go work for a morgue. The staff at reception behave as though they are doing guests a favour. No eye contact, they continue chatting with their pals and eating their lunch and fruit while checking guests in. There was a guy munching his apple and chatting with his colleagues while attending to my query and has a don’t care attitude. God forbid if we ask a question, they act like we disturbed them. The waiter at chiccos was so annoyed that we asked for tea at breakfast . Her response was “now what you want” it’s the elderly waiter that has a limp. like what the heck ???We can excuse everything else but not the attitude of you staff. We save money all year around to give our family a getaway after hard work and time away from our kids. It was my birthday weekend! It behoves this organization to ensure that each guest that walks through your doors is treated with dignity. Unfortunately your location is great and you will still get booking so you definateky will not take head to this review. I encourage people not to waste their money, rather stay elsewhere on the coast and take a day trip to the water park.

Utterly disappointed with the current state of Wild Coast Sun. Check is at 3pm?? As soon as you walk in there is a lady that walks the floor and man's the one desk who clearly is going through a mid life crisis with her dyed blonde hair and no smile. She is THEE most unpleasant face to see as soon as you walk into reception. Worst system ever just to check in. And when you DO check in and ask for help the staff act like they doing us a favour by helping. That same unhelpful lady in the midst of helping you she has personal conversation with other staff. @WC management why do you have such a dreadful person at reception? Desks are poorly manned. You can't even book a movie as nobody man's the place. Not worth the money at all!!

Let me start by saying that our stay was not awful, but it was far from the standards that Wild Coast once was. The highlights were Chico's breakfast and the service received at Mangwanani. The biggest downside for me was that the hotel did not have room service. You could order from one of the food court restaurants, but they wouldn't answer. So it meant after a relaxing massage or when you just want to laze in the room, you would need to go into the extremely chaotic food court to get something to eat. It's not ideal. The buildings and amenities are tired and not well maintained. For example, the cushions on the pool loungers were not clean, and whilst the rooms were comfortable, I just found it to be lacking for a South African 4-star hotel. Sadly, after many years of good memories, I doubt I'll be returning to Wild Coast Sun.

Location is absolutely stunning, and the hotel itself needs a bit of a renovation, but that is not an issue and we can live with that. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The attention to detail and guest service is lacking and far from what can be expected from a 4 star location. For example: !) you have this beautiful beach: why not provide guests with an option to hire umbrellas/chairs for the beach. In my view you should be providing it anyway. Luckily I cam prepared otherwise we would have been stuck without any shade. 2) Most of the hotel smells of tobacco smoke. It is clear the ventilation system of the smoking section of the casino is highly ineffective, or the no smoking policy is not enforced 3) You have sporting facilities - bowling green and tennis courts. First off, why do you not provide or even give you the option to rent equipment to use it? And it you choose to stick with your antiquated policy, at least give the guests a heads up to bring their own. 4) It is clear that day visitors are being allowed at the pool. We've seen a number of guests with their own cooler boxes drinking at the pool despite it being prohibited as the facility is licensed. 5) the lady that operates the towel kiosk is the rudest most unhelpful individual I have ever come across. She also had a serious issue with time keeping and on one occasion we had to go tot he front desk to get her called to the kiosk - this was at least 2 hours after the scheduled opening time. 6) the pool area is stunning and has a beautiful view, but there is not enough pool loungers available. We also ended up sitting on broken loungers most of the time. 7) We found the availability of healthy eating options very limited.

Rooms given to us were too far away. So we had to request rooms closer which was given to us the next morning. Very pleased with that. As we are senior citizens we just relaxed. Beautiful place for children as well with the water park. Saw many children enjoying themselves there. Would definitely recommend Wild Coast for all as there are amenities for children and adults.
