Wild Coast Sun is located in Port Edward on the South Coast of Kwa Zulu Natal . It is a family friendly resort has unspoiled beaches , loads of entertainment for the whole family .
We booked 3 rooms of which one was a paraplegic for an aged guest . When we arrived the check in process took almost 2 hours . We were given 3 standard rooms and the person checking us in was unfriendly and rude and did not understand our need for a special needs room . The room was located on the other side of the hotel and my aged mother had to walk a long distance The room also was dusty and had an offensive smell which the housekeeping tried to mask by spraying some disgusting spray , that caused allergies . The toilet and bathroom was totally unfit for the aged .
Our first nigh was an absolute frustration as I had to constantly assist my mother with the ablutions .
The next day we eventually got someone to listen and assist us and we were moved to another room closer to the lifts and reception with special need bathroom . The attitude of the frontline staff were disappointing . An observation the rooms at the front of the hotel were much cleaner and better furnished than the back end .
Breakfast was excellent and variety of offerings .
Dinner in Chico’s was buffet and we arrived after 8pm and we were rushed as the kitchen was closing at 21:00 . That’s ridiculous for peak season in December . We on holiday for goodness safe and want to relax and have dinner at leisure and staff were arrogant. The buffet was not cheap either for us to be rushed .
The hotel has indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a water park . Unfortunately the it rained throughout the week and water park was closed and we were unable to do any outdoor activities.
The Mangwanani Spa was excellent. And were tried our luck in the casino . The games Centre is great for kids and their are the usual takeout restaurants .
It was great vacation resort for the whole family . I however will never choose it again due to poor and inconsistent services and lack of empathy

I stayed for 2 nights during January 2020. I found check-in staff not welcoming and not eager to serve; and also not offering the general orientation-type information normally shared during check in; but luckily, the staff in Chicos showed that some of the Sun International hospitality training was taken seriously. I had a very comfortable room overlooking the gardens –with a balcony (but could not keep the door open due to the monkeys!). The bathroom had a bath and shower. The room also offered a small fridge, tea/coffee making facilities and an extended bouquet of TV channels to choose from. The Driftwood restaurant and bar were closed for the week, but the hotel complex offers a number of other dining options. I recommend the hotel.

Seems like the hotel rooms are in need of some new furniture, bed was lumpy, aircon noisy, decor is tired and outdated. The queue at the breakfast buffet in Chicos was ridiculously tiresome an hour to get served. Staff are friendly though but hotel itself quality of breakfast food and the whole feel is a star or 2 too high.

I'm really disappointed with the service in this place, as I was coming from a road trip and had my own food going to a room that I paid, I got blocked by the security guy, saying that it was not allowed!
(If you see my profile it's easy to notice that I'm not a new traveler, or a first timer in a hotel) but for the very fist time was blocked by a security guy informing that he's calling the manager to my room because I cannot enter with my own food! Again, even if the place it's beautiful this kind of customer service makes the whole experience really bad, so for sure to not come back. please combine this with other review I've seen.
One more detail, I spotted a debonairs pizza box outside one of the rooms, and leftovers of chips in the floor!
I don't wanna say it was a discrimination, but for sure a really disappointing experience!
In this crazy times that were living and with the daily threat of the virus to the tourism industry they should've praise their customers and not humiliate and t
Discriminate them.
Please avoid this place there are a way much better options and for sure you'll enjoy!

My cousin and I stayed at the Wild Coast Sun on 6 March 2021 and checked out on the 8th. The service is really pathetic. The check in attendee refused to check me in 3 times, claiming there were no rooms available. When she was busy I went to the attendee next to her and she kindly checked me in with no problems. We got to our room and there was no tv remote. Trying to get through to switchboard room service is impossible. The lady said she would report it but didn't send a remote up to our room. We had to phone multiple times. In the evening we realized there were no bath towels. Again, the lady answering the switchboard calls sighed like we asked her to come to work today. She just cut the call. I phoned back and asked if she will be sending the towels, to which she rudely replied "yes i am sending him". That night we went down to Panarottis and ordered a pasta. The waitress got the order wrong so we asked her to send the pasta to the room. She charged us a service fee but when we got the food, there were no cutlery. Thereafter, we couldn't get through to Panarottis or the Hotel switchboard so we had to walk back down to the restaurant. Please can Wild Coast Sun ask their employees if they need their jobs because I'm sure there are plenty of other willing people who would gladly want their jobs and give off their best. I will never stay there again due to the terrible attitude I received.

Dear Suhan Harillal, Sadly to hear that we did not meet our your expectation during your last visit at our establishment. We have addressed the said poor services with each manger to prevent re-occurring . Sometimes we have to learn from our mistake in order to improve . I would like to extend our sincere apology to you for lapse in services . This is not what we are well know off but it will be rectified immediately Regards Irvin Shange

I have constantly been disappointed and lied to by staff members continuously who just blame the covid restrictions for everything.
I cannot believe the quality of service suninternational is allowing. As a customer I have to ask for information that should have been provided prior to my arrival or even at the checkin desk.
It is embarrassing to be turned down a card in the casino when we have drove all the way to use the casino. The kids could not play any games because everything is turned off because it is not "busy enough" so my money that I paid for, for the full experience is not good enough ,then why have you all opened at all? We did not travel so far to get 1/3 of the experience.
You are destroying the image of this once beautiful place by staff that lie constantly and are clearly not happy to work here and do not care about the customer satisfaction at all.
I believe that your staff thinks that they are doing us a favor maybe because they think we got free nights here when we are actually PAYING customers.
Please get your staff to adjust their attitudes ,in the mean time I will be sure to post my findings on every social media platform stating the names of the staff members and their behavior accordingly because its unfair to allow innocent people to spend their money and be robbed of their rights.
Thank you, I hope this email finds you well and something is done about this as apposed to it being brushed under the carpet.

Stayed for 2 nights at the resort. For starters the atmosphere upon arrival was very depressing. Staff treated us as if they doing us a favour and were very grumpy, so not the warm welcome and treatment that is necessary for a holiday resort that wants to attract customers. There were no chairs in our room and no complimentary bottled water. The lagoon bar advertised for light snacks and meals and when approached, only alcohol cocktails were served. The breakfast at chiccos was very nice. Good variety of all breakfast meals. The Maltos restaurant was closed for maintenance,as well as the surrounding pools. The sports centre was also closed and under maintenence. The main casino had only 2 roulette tables opened, 1 blackjack table and only on one night they had the easy poker table opened. No tables were opened in the prive lounge. Seemed like the only machines that were paying out, were the bank atm's. The overall resort was fairly clean and felt a bit nostalgic, as the carpets and room ambience is the same as when I visited in the 1980's. Food retailers had advertisements for sun mvg points to be used from mvg cards, but was not operational. The resort should not charge premium price if their facilities are not open or active.

The service is quiet disgusting. No one answers the phone for room service , you cannot get through to switchboard, the batteries in the remote for the tv are dying, you cannot get an iron or ironing board to the room, you must go to a communal ironing room even if you are staying with kids and nearly all of your staff behave as tho they are doing guest a favour! For the price people pay please send your apathetic staff on training! I would like some feedback regarding this. We can all excuse the run down facilities and the deteriorating cupboards and bathrooms, the 4th floor Chiccos sad buffet and calls itself “VIP”, and nearly all the blue mats for the mat racer slides are torn at the handles?? At the price you charge guests, can you not replace these mats? Also the pools where the orange and blue body slides are is disgustingly murky. When last did you clean this or replace the water???... all of these can be excused but the disgusting attitude of your staff is inexcusable because it completely ruined our stay. Every little contact we had with them was distasteful and disrespectful. And, please remove that tired blonde lady from the reception area, she should go work for a morgue. The staff at reception behave as though they are doing guests a favour. No eye contact, they continue chatting with their pals and eating their lunch and fruit while checking guests in. There was a guy munching his apple and chatting with his colleagues while attending to my query and has a don’t care attitude. God forbid if we ask a question, they act like we disturbed them. The waiter at chiccos was so annoyed that we asked for tea at breakfast . Her response was “now what you want” it’s the elderly waiter that has a limp. like what the heck ???We can excuse everything else but not the attitude of you staff. We save money all year around to give our family a getaway after hard work and time away from our kids. It was my birthday weekend! It behoves this organization to ensure that each guest that walks through your doors is treated with dignity. Unfortunately your location is great and you will still get booking so you definateky will not take head to this review. I encourage people not to waste their money, rather stay elsewhere on the coast and take a day trip to the water park.

Recently visited the hotel with my wife and kids. What a nice hotel with lost of activities notwithstanding the fact that the waterpark was closed for renovations. The staff are freindly and a big thanks to Ismael for sorting out an error with my booking. The food is excellent especially the buffet. The hotel grounds are clean and well kept. I also enjoyed the gin that was served at the pool and the music.
One recommendation thou the hotel should try and clean the beach area regularly. I have been to many international beachfront hotel and most of them will clean the beach area daily and remove all items harmful to the environment.
I will be returning to the hotel soon.

Stayed at the hotel as aprt of a group who had a conference and a formal eveining function at the hotel.
From the moment one arrives at the hotel, one can clearly see that staff morale is very low. Staff is non-responsive to requests and not very helpful or friendly.
A nice handwritten welcome note with a gift of assorted chocholates were a nice gesture in the room. The room was clean and tidy. The aircon did not work and despite several promises by front desk, nobody attended to the matter. Upon checking out, it was mentioned to the lady at the help desk who merely shrugged.
Breakfast offerred a great variety but service was unfriendly and super slow.
The food at the evening function was really tasty and enough, but once again no service from any waiters. Upon arrival at the function, the drinks were not ready and they run out of wine quickly. Worst of all was that there was no soap available in the mens bathroom.
There was one staff member who policed everybody and made sure you go nowhere without using a mask. Not a problem, but at least have soap in your bathrooms.
