South African hospitality at its best! Elandskuil is a self-catering guest house and working farm, situated just off the N2 in the beautiful East Griqualand Region of Southern KwaZulu-Natal. Offering a tranquil and friendly break from the rigors of the road. Just 17 km from Kokstad, and under 3 hours' drive from Durban and Pietermaritzburg. This working farm is an ideal stopover for weary travellers. Elandskuil is for lovers of all things outdoor and all things adventure, and offers the perfect rest spot for families and travellers en-route to the Transkei. It is for those looking to find an inner peace in the beauty of nature. For families, adventure groups, and for those just looking for space and shoulder massaging beauty. Come spend time on our family run farm. We want to share this haven of peace from the big city life, which lies just around the corner. Whether it's hiking, walking, mountain biking, hopping in your 4 x 4, or relaxing beneath 100 year old trees while the children play, you will feel at home.

The road is a real farm road which did not worry us. The rooms were roomy, the kitchen well equipped and we could sit and relax outside. The garden is huge and the pool was cleaned and maintained. We had a puppie with us and he was free to run!

Conveniently situated near the main road, clean, comfortable and pet friendly. Complementary milk provided from the farm cows - was a treat. Nice to have a garden for the dog to run around on and stretch its legs after a long car trip. All good.
Our last minute booking was handled efficiently and the owner was friendly and most accommodating. Thank you

En route to the Cape we spent a night at Elandskuil. Our self catering unit was comfortable, clean and had all we needed and more. Conveniently situated close to the N2 and yet quiet and lovely to have all the farm noises and bird sounds. Our booking was handled efficiently and the owner was friendly and most accommodating. Thank you.

Picture this... a quant old farm house with tastefully decorated living rooms facing rolling lawns and a beautiful garden. Then see a white wall circling the guest area...behind this lies farm workers living in despicable conditions, amongst animal waste. Clover should check this farm for compliance with health laws.

We overnighted here on our journey from Durban to Grahamstown. The self-catering rooms are comfortable and well equipped, even if rather cool in a South African winter. To make up for this a welcoming fire was lit in the cosy lounge where we used the honesty bar and enjoyed one of the best homecooked meals we've had in South Africa. The countryside surrounding this working farm is beautiful and if you're missing the pets you left at home there are dogs and cats very happy to be paid attention.

We stayed for one night on two separate occasions, en route to our destination and back home - the first night was spent in the lovely self-catering thatch cottage, and on the way home we stayed in a guest room inside the main house. The accommodation is comfortable and well kept. However, the main plus for me was the beautiful garden and quiet farm environment. We spent a long time sipping a glass of wine and looking at the impressive dark blue clouds which covered the sky for miles around. Breakfast is a standard two fried eggs, bacon and tomato, with toast (after starting with fruit salad and yoghurt). This guest house is well situated for travellers passing near or through Kokstad.
