Why excellent location? 1. The swimming beach is two steps away. There are lifeguards until 5 pm. We caught quiet days before school break, and animated days once holidays kicked in. 2. Unique experience watching the dolphins at sunrise! Enjoyable walks on the shore to Uvongo waterfall. 3. Shopping centre just 1 km away. Whether you need groceries, clothes, shoes, jewelry, maps, haircut, toys...it's right there for you. 4. There are many restaurants if you don't feel like bbq-ing. Emerald Cove is a neat place located right off the beach. Our hostess was very friendly and the staff were very helpful. It's not fancy but serviceable and probably not a bad place to stay with your family.

WE love staying at Emerald Cove. The clean, comfortable accommodation is perfect for a family. It is Excellent value for money. Close walking distance to the beach. If conditions are favorable one can fish and enjoy many hours of fun in the sun. It is close to the main swimming beach and tidal pool.

As a young married family living in South Africa in the 80s and early 90s, we used to stay in a hotel at Shelly Beach that is no longer there (Skipper's). We have now stayed at Emerald Cove, Shelly Beach, KwaZulu-Natal about half a dozen times over the last 6 years and love it every time. The thatched chalets are comfortable with everything we needed for a quiet vacation. We have had the three bed roomed chalet a few times as well as the two bed roomed chalets on other occasions. The gate at the back of the property opens out onto St. Michael's beach. Every morning I would get up before sunrise and photograph the occasion (see my photos). We spent 10 days in this resort and found it very convenient for either the beach, shopping malls and restaurants. The chalets were serviced daily and kept very clean. There is easy access to the beach through the garden and only a short walk to the swimming area which has lifeguards in attendance. We also found that the owners, who live on site, extremely friendly and offer helpful advice when needed. We would have no hesitation to returning in the future. Mary and Malcolm, England
