If you want to experience a wealthy, quiet part of Bilbao near the beaches, this is the place to stay. The convenient subway is near to go both to the city or to a beach. You can also walk to a fairly busy beach nearby. The hotel has four bicycles if you want to experience the coastline. We liked this hotel among the huge villas a lot.

We stayed three nights at the Embarcadero. The junior suite (room 10) we had overlooked the harbour and was a good size. There are no UK or English TV channels. Parking is in the underground garage, try the lower floor if busy as its a bit tight in places. Breakfast is on the modest side for a four star hotel but pintxos type options are availble as extras to the buffet breakfast. The staff were excelent all through the hotel with most having good English, in case one's Basque is a bit rusty. The bar is lively and popular with locals and is recommended, there being no nearby places. The bar menu is fine for a light meal or pintxos and there is a small, slightly more formal restaurant, but the same food can be ordered in the bar on request. The hotel is located off the road so is quiet, the soundproofing of the rooms is modest, some plumbing sounds can be heard through wall or ceiling, as this is a converted large old property.

Everything about the hotel was excellent. We had a beautiful room overlooking the sea with beautiful views. The food was excellent, the service impeccable and the special early breakfast they laid on for us was fabulous. The decor, the toiletries in the bathroom, everything about this hotel is amazing.
