What can I say? Location was excellent, the aircon worked, delicious restaurants nearby. We particularly loved the old world feel of the garden and room design. Quirky but fully functional. A good choice!
Very relaxing The breakfast is the best You experience a taste of the Holland spirit the outlay of the house and pool is beautiful Friendly people very helpful and caring I will go back You literally can walk to the restaurants there And experience the history of Tulbagh Experience beautiful sunsets with good wine and food
We stayed for 2 nights at the "African Tulip". First, it was not easy to find, our TomTom Go did not work properly. When we arrived we were welcomed by our host Elise and from the first moment we felt at home away from home.. The house is beautifully decorated, we had a large and very comfortable room and the breakfast was the best during our long trip through South Africa!
This is a stunning facility with excellent luxurious rooms. We booked Plumeria room but Elize upgraded us to Lilly as it had a larger bathroom with shower, bath, twin basins and separate toilet. The shower unfortunately had a small leak but we folded a facecloth and placed it against the leak. Room very spacious and luxurious with kingsize, extra long bed. Some nice cookies were placed in our room to compliment the coffee tea station. We did not order breakfast so I can not comment on this. Elize (owner) was very accommodating and recommended things to do and restaurants to visit in and around Tulbagh. Even received a small snack to enjoy on the road. Safe undercover parking and free wifi was very helpful. Thanks Elize, you are a star.
Elise and Frank are lovely and helpful hosts. Exterior is charming and tranquil. My room was spacious and had many good facilities, however as I was travelling on business I would have loved a desk & chair to work from. My stay was really fantastic and I will definitely visit again.
From our arrival until our departure - what an experience. The rooms are lovely and have everything that you need. The breakfast was amazing and a gift bag of Banana bread for the trip home was wonderful. The guest house is situated so that you can walk into town and enjoy the local cuisine and entertainment. Looking forward to going back again soon.
No TV in Rooms, communal lounge with just a couple of lousy chanels, communal lounge does not work form me. No desk in rooms to do work on. No dinner capability so have to travel out of guest house at night for this. Rooms are cold in winter and noise comes from the main road during the night from truck and car traffic. Wooden floors make a lot of noise with every step, overall poor sound insulation in the rooms. One almost feels like you are living in a room in somebody's house.
African Tulip Guesthouse is a luxuray home away from home made all the better with scrumptious breakfasts. It is ideally located for many of the activities available on the wine route. This was my second stay at African Tulip and I foresee many more. The hosts are simply the best!
We had such a lovely stay at this beautiful, quiet and well-equipped guest house. We were greeted personally by the owners and made to feel very welcome. The room we stayed in was spacious and clean, and the bed very comfortable. The guesthouse is set on a lovely property with on-site, secure parking, a garden, pool and communal braai (BBQ) area. The breakfasts in the morning, made by Elise herself, were delicious! Thank you so much to the wonderful hosts, we had a fantastic stay and hope to be back for another visit.
Lovely room fully equipped and we were very well looked after. Restaurant for first night had been booked for us as requested by our email so no searching for dinner. Pool is lovely and overall layout of gardens is very relaxing. No TV in room but in lounge next door - we enjoyed the tranquility and the views of the surrounding mountains.
