GLAMPING DISGUST AT BUFFALO’S DRIFT I hope this letter reaches you under circumstances that allow for swift and decisive action to address the numerous issues I encountered during my recent stay at your establishment, BUFFALO DRIFT GLAMPING TENTS, it should rather state CAMPING. It is with great disappointment that I bring to your attention the unacceptable level of service and the deplorable conditions that marred what was supposed to be a pleasant experience. First and foremost, the overall state of the premises is nothing short of disgusting, and I would strongly advise against recommending your establishment to anyone in its current state. A substantial upgrade is urgently needed to bring it up to the standards one would expect from a reputable venue. Furthermore, the lack of respect shown towards guests is utterly disheartening. Commenting on guests' drinking habits or lack thereof is unprofessional and completely inappropriate. It is essential for your staff to treat guests with the respect they deserve, rather than passing judgment on their choices. Upon our arrival, there was no one available to guide or welcome us. Given the scorching 33-degree weather, this lack of assistance and hospitality was extremely disappointing. To add to the discomfort, one of the units had a malfunctioning air conditioner with no remote. Despite reporting the issue, it took an hour for the remote to be provided, and even then, the air conditioner remained ineffective. The subsequent insinuation that I mishandled the remote was both insulting and baseless. The safety hazards at your facility are alarming. A broken railing, which I reported promptly, resulted in my brother-in-law falling through later that day. The response from your reservations department, insinuating that our concerns were fueled by excessive drinking, is not only unprofessional but also deeply offensive. The additional charges for using canoes, the unsanitary condition of the dam-cuzzi, the misrepresentation of the swimmability of the river, and the disparity between advertised images and the actual conditions all contribute to an overall deceptive experience. The power outage in one of the units, coupled with the lack of communication and delayed resolution, is inexcusable. Issues such as a non-functional fridge, overheating cell phones due to the absence of air conditioning, water supply problems in unit 2, and a disgusting smell in the bathroom of unit 1 further highlight the subpar conditions we endured during our stay. The absence of basic amenities, such as a broom, and the fragility of railings, balconies, and cupboards, are clear indications that your facility is in dire need of an overhaul. In conclusion, my family and I have had an overall terrible experience at these so-called glamping tents. Given our extensive travels, including stays at other glamping sites, we find it necessary to express our profound disappointment and concern. I will actively discourage others from choosing Buffalo’s Drift Glamping for their vacations until significant improvements are made. I trust that you will address these issues promptly and take the necessary steps to ensure that future guests do not have to endure the same hardships that we did.

We enjoyed our family get together at Captains Cabin. The location is excellent for access to the see and walking distance to the main beach. It is well protected from the elements especially on the windy days. The accommodation is rustic but very functional, great that each room has own toilet and shower some with bunk beds and some with double beds, with nice open communal living and braai area. We only had one main issues in one of the rooms (room2) related to a toilet leak and outside open pipes and associated odors, but this was mostly addressed when we reported it.

This was our first but not last holiday at Buffalo Drift. We did nothing but braai and socialize and swim. The Glamping tents are clean, cozy and has everything needed. The staff are amazing and always there to help. Jackie is very helpful and attended to all my needs. We booked for April before leaving we were that impressed. The only recommendation i would give is to get Mosquito nets for the 4 poster beds.

My best friend and I are so impressed with the beautiful scenery, the camping site is so neat and clean and absolutely gorgeous unlike any other camping site I've seen. The staff are all friendly and always ready to assist if needed. Can't wait for my next visit.

I guess due to the pandemic, there are not a lot of recent reviews – but having been at Lumberjack Cottage at the end of February 2022 I was very happy to see that everything is looking great. It's clear that some work has been done to the place and it was cosy, comfortable and had all the creature comforts you could need. Speaking of creatures, from the stoep we were able to see giraffes very close by, and later some zebra and even ostriches in the distance! We were in the area to visit !Khwa ttu, which is a short drive away and unmissable. Lumberjack Cottage was the ideal location for that, plus there's a very decent Spar just down the road for all your supplies.

Thank you for a great stay guys. The venue itself is neat and perfectly located with everything that you need. The rooms are on par and overall definitely one of my top 5 bachelors venues that I have stayed in for the weekend. Thank you to Proton for being friendly, helpful and professional at the same time. Regards, George Maas

Although we had a good vacation, there are definitely a number of things that can be improved on. The biggest surprise was the electricity. We were aware of the solar power electricity, and made the assumption that we will have access to electricity , but should avoid appliances such as hairdryers. Upon our arrival we discovered that the electricity was in fact just for the lights and a USB port. There wasn't a single plug, and our cell phone chargers does not have USB ports, therefore we weren't able to charge anything we brought along on our trip. (we were camping for the majority of our trip, so we had outdoornlighta, two way radios etc. That had to be charged) Cleanliness could be improved on, as well as proactive services such as cleaning out the bins, Braais etc.

18th First Avenue is a lovely house. We spend most of our time, when at the house, around the long table chatting, playing games or eating. It was also a bonus that our friends’ little dog could go with and for cheap. The house was also very clean. We will definitely visit again.

Beautiful place, what a great experience and with the see in your backyard! For a getaway that is remote, but not to remote I would highly recommend Captains Cabin from Buffalo's Drift or any of there accommodation. Great venue if you want to a place big enough for a group, would most definitely make use of Buffalo's Drift services again.
