Clean, spacious unit in historic Church Street in Tulbagh. Park your car and walk to any place in town - visit historic buildings and earthquake museum, enjoy nice food and drinks at various restaurants. Visit the wine farms in the area.

It was a very good experience the kids enjoyed the space and the garden. Very quiet and near shopping and coffee shop entities which was just walking distance. Will definitely book again and stay for longer. Town is quite and safe. Friendly service.

Our visit to Tulbach was enjoyable and Epistay's location was perfect. Enjoyed the lovely garden for early morning coffee.Nic was most helpful and available to assist. Will love to go back and explore more of the winefarms in the vicinity.

Epistay ticks the boxes for location and room cleanliness. That is where it stops. The place is in dire need of renovation; our courtyard room certainly did not match the pictures. Lot of mould etc on exterior walls and damp cold indoors. Tin sink roof and plyboard 'wall' separating bedroom and bathroom. No cafe restaurant as advertised on the epistay site. Fair amount of noise from building behind late at night and very early in the morning. Considering was the same price as more upmarket establishments; certainly will not stay here again. Left feeling a bit 'ripped off'.

There was no indication of a reception of any kind. I enquired at the only open door (run as a bicycle "shop") where a young man promptly called Nick who emerged with another young man from the back of what I presume to be their home. The room was shown by this black youngster. The yard was filthy with not a single piece of furniture fit to sit on. I was told to lock myself in at the steel gate equipped with a lock and key. (It seems all rooms have this additional "safety feature" - unsightly and uncomfortable to use.) Dog fesses a few steps from the room and dead plants on the stoep did not make for a welcoming of any sorts. The room has no air conditioning and no cross-ventilation and after a day of 39 degrees Celsius, it was like sleeping in a closed oven with a very noisy fan to try and keep cool. Ants were everywhere and getting up meant you disturbed them and would spend some time afterwards to try and rid your own body of them. It was a hot, ant-infested nightmarish stay. Glad to be gone.

We enjoyed a fabulous weekend at Epistay in Tulbagh. After accidentally (our accident) booking the incorrect dates on booking.com, a quick call to Nick rectified the situation as he graciously adjusted dates for us. This lovely property is accessible to all the charm of Tulbagh and just nicely isolated enough from the less-than-idyllic parts. We could not have wished for better hospitality, from an unexpected room upgrade on a quieter night to offers of fresh coffee in the morning! Rooms are beautifully furnished at very reasonable prices and we will be back!

I had the one of the best stays of my live at EpiStay. The service was excellent and the breakfast was very delicious. Won't think twice again when deciding on a place to stay over for a weekend out of the city.

Where do I start, well, I am quite full of nonsense about where I stay when I go away, I reluctantly went with my fiance as he had a bike race and what a surprise we got when staying at Epistay!

The Service, the cleanliness, the friendliness, the breakfast, was all out of this world! Nick and Mish were literally the best, so friendly, they go out of their way to help with anything, I could have chatted to them for hours, the room was clean and bed super comfy, I even forgot my trusty pillow at home but didn't even miss it :) The room wasn't huge, but was perfect for us.

Tulbagh is also the friendliest little town, so much to do and see.

Thanks to Nick we even found our wedding venue (after a 3 and a half year search!)

I would highly recommend Epistay :)
