Oudekloof is a charmingly restored Cape Dutch farmhouse, nestled on the slopes of the Obiquamountains. It has four en-suite bedrooms, and one double bedroom in the main house, with alarge kitchen, wrap-around verandah, pool, and outdoor braai area for entertaining.takes its name from the age-old mountain pass that led early settlers over the Obiqua mountains and into the fertile Tulbagh valley. Today, the quaint town of Tulbagh is regarded by many as the "heart of the Boland", luring visitors from all over the world to share in its colourful history and proud traditions.Oudekloof Wine Estate, situated at the foot of this historic gateway, has been cultivated for nearly 300 years and today produces award winning grapes for local boutique cellars. The farming philosophy is sensitive and sustainable; over half the estate's 340 hectares is set aside to protect indigenous wildlife, fynbos and renosterveld for future generations to enjoy.
One of the cosiest and nicest "get away from it all" places I have been. We booked the self catering cottage and upon arrival was met by our host who quickly showed us everything. The unit had ample wood (we had the fireplace in the cottage going for all 3 days) and well appointed

Definitely the place to go if you want to relax and be away from the hussle of Corporate life. My wife and I loved it, the way the houses have been done in a basic but tasteful way we really enjoyed. Bonus for us was seeing the geese working in the field with the manager eating all the insect from the crops instead of using chemicals, we love that concept and tells us a lot about the owners who where very friendly and helpful all through our stay. The road was also nicely redone (Gravel) so access was easy and painless even with our smaller T-Cross SUV... Definitely a must for any person or couple that wants quality alone time with amazing views over Tulbagh.

We have just spent a lovely weekend at Oudekloof. Arrived on a very hot Saturday in time to enjoy pizza and wine on the terrace, then settled into one of the charming cottages beside the main house. Christine was a great host, and as the cottage pool was not ready, invited us to share their pool, overlooking the beautiful Tulbargh valley. Next morning, on an even hotter day, we followed her directions to walk up the hillside to the old cannon and to the viewpoint on the next rise. Lunch at the amazing Obiqua cafe just down the road. A totally relaxing place to stay, well situated for getting the most from this tranquil valley. PS - the wine tasting is excellent!

I've been coming here with my family for 3 years. We love the quietness and facilities. We will definitely be back. There is a large grassed area in front of the main house where the children can play and also swim in the private pool. Braai facilities are also right there so the children can be supervised all at the same time. If travelling in January, we take some extra floor fans as the bedrooms can get a little warm (there are some small ones provided). The main living area has an a/c which keeps things nice and cool even in temperatures of 44.5 degrees which we got to on 1 of the days. The swimming pool is cleaned and refilled everyday.

We stayed in the 8-sleeper cottage with the pool. It's a well kept cottage with amazing views over the Tulbagh valley. Braai facilities are top notch too. Check-in was frictionless and we were allowed to arrive early.

If you are in Tulbagh, a must do is the tractor ride at Oudekloof. You are basically bording a tractor which will drive the 2nd oldest pass of the country. It is not used anymore and is on a private farm... When you reach the top, you are welcome by a glass of wine and platters of various delicate things to eat. The view from there is gorgeous...
DEfinitly a must do...

We had a great few days on this lovely farm. The rooms were very comfortable and clean, and everything necessary was provided, even swimming towels for our private pool. Andrew and Christine were excellent hosts and did everything possible to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The location just outside Tulbagh meant that we were within easy reach of so many lovely places to visit, including the town, wine farms, Ceres, etc. A downside of being on a farm is the abundance of flies, but that did not detract from our enjoyment of the beautiful surroundings.

We very much enjoyed our stay here, the chalet had wonderful views of the splendid mountains, and it was so peaceful and relaxing. The kitchen was fully equipped, and there was also a private BBQ on the veranda. the chalet had a nice pot fireplace for those cold evenings, with wood supplied. The hosts were very accommodating, giving us a chance to sample their wonderful wines, even after they had closed for the day. We would definitely book there again.

Thank you for a very nice stay at Oudekloof. The hospitality of the owners was great and they were really friendly.
The rooms could do with a bit of maintenance and care. We had several leaks in our unit and the general upkeep is lacking. As an example, the towel hanger in the bathroom is missing and there is merely a hole in the wall left with the remains of a wall plug. It was also raining heavily that weekend but the seat covers outside were full of moul and dirty. Luckily we bought our own firelighters too to start a fire on the Friday evening, there were none included.

We went to Oudekloof farm, as it is on the same road to Montpellier. Its a beautiful farm, but we did not really enjoy the wines. The white wine is old (bottled in 2015) and gone yellow. The tasting is R75 for the 4 wines. One white and 3 reds. I think R75 for 4 wines is a bit expensive. The wine labels are very funky and funny.

"Just can't remember our room name, but it was on the left (ground floor) and was vast. Got the morning sun from memory. Double sinks in the bathroom and a slipper bath, with outside shower."
