We spent only one night here but it was an excellent choice. Beautiful sunset and a good choice of food paired with great wines, room was small but adequit for our needs. We went for the wine tasting at the winery and got some great wine for the ret of our trip.

We travelled back to Johannesburg via Tulbach. Relaxed wine farm with beautiful views each way you look. Rooms were comfortable and neatly decorated. The swimming pool is an eco-pool, fits the surroundings very well and you cool down. The sunsets are out of this world! Dinner was very delicious. As we left a little earlier than breakfast was served, we were given a nicely packed breakfast for the road. Very relaxing experience.

I absolutely loved staying at Rijk's Wine Estate! The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was really good, the rooms are big and comfortable and I was lucky to see a stunning sunset! The only thing that I would recommend, is that Rijk's include more still water for drinking in the rooms. The water from the taps are not safe for drinking, so they include a 500ml bottle of still water and 500ml of sparkling water in the rooms, which is not necessarily enough if you're someone who drinks lots of water.

My husband and I spent three nights at Rijks hotel and would have given it a higher rating if there was a semblance of decent housekeeping and management. On arrival our room was dirty and it took housekeeping 30 minutes to vacuum the dirt off the floor and remove the cob webs, spiders and dead insects. The cob webs in the rafters remained as they did not have a ladder long enough to reach the thatched roof. The one basin in the bathroom was blocked and nothing was done even after our request. The grouting between the tiles was mildewed showing neglect. That said, the hotel has a wonderful setting and magnificent views. Our private cellar room was spacious with a double shower and double basins and a generously proportioned oval bath. Our private terrace had a table and two chairs. The one dinner we ate at the hotel was well presented and of a good quality. The breakfast was good albeit a self service buffet which was not Covid friendly. The hot breakfast was served. There appeared to be a shortage of staff, lack of staff training and management. With these management issues addressed Rijks has the potential to be the luxury getaway as advertised.

Extremely comfortable accommodation, lovely view, friendly staff, secure parking and well situated to explore the area. Also handy that you can have tasty meals without having to drive at night!! Will definitely stay there again.
