Yet another brilliant stay at the Tulbagh Boutique Heritage Hotel, our all time favourite.
When we arrived we were greeted by Louise and although it was late in the evening we were still able to get a delicious pizza and nice cold wine. Our room for 12 nights was Sugarbush room in the Manor house opposite the hotel, this room has 4 poster bed,
fridge with beer, wine and soft drinks and also tea coffee making facilities.
Whilst in Tulbagh the temperature was in the high 30s,so the main swimming pool was a great place to cool off with plenty of sunbeds, umbrellas and towels and the ever cheerful staff are always about to serve ice cool drinks when needed.
Our room was kept spotlessly clean by housekeeping with evening turndown and a sweet treat on our pillows. The huge bath was a welcome sight on a night after a hot day. Each evening we dined at the Hotels Olive Terrace Restaurant and the choice of food and wine was extensive and all very good quality, the service from all the staff was
exceptional and we spoke to several Cape Town residents who stay at the Hotel often and who praised the high standards of the accommodation and restaurant meals along with special offers and promotions.
The hotel also offers the added bonus of its own security and a secure off road car park.
Tulbagh is well situated to visit lots of local wineries and olive farms and if you don't want to drive, a local company with tuk tuks will take you on a tour of the local sights and wineries. When we return in 2021 it will be our 6th visit in 6 years, so to all the hard working staff at Tulbagh Boutique Heritage Hotel, keep up the great work because in our eyes you have made this Hotel the best in South Africa.

We spent the night at this lovely gem of a hotel. Upon arrival, a few hours early I must add, we were told our room had been upgraded. Luckily the room was vacant so the very friendly manageress personally showed us to a beautifully decorated room and bathroom. The four poster bed was lovely and very comfortable. We then went for brunch at the Bistro where the food and service were excellent. The staff were all so friendly and happy to help at all times. Later on in the afternoon I went for a lovely massage at the spa and when we were back at our room there was a knock at the door and a lady brought us chocolates and asked if there was anything we needed. This is the first time we’ve ever had this type of service at a hotel! We had dinner at the Bistro which was excellent. Liana, the manageress, came around and chatted to everybody and she is super friendly, helpful and easy to chat to. One can see the staff are very happy working there and they work well together as a team. Our booking included bed and breakfast. The breakfast was outstanding especially that we could order anything on the menu with no limitations.
Overall it was a wonderful stay at an excellent hotel and the next time we’re in Tulbagh we’ll look no further than the Boutique Heritage hotel to spend the night

We recently stayed at The Tulbagh Hotel as we were attending a friends wedding.
The service was absolutely top - great and friendly staff, who were super helpful in arranging wine tours, transport and bookings for dinner. The rooms were spacious and very clean - turndown service every evening and they had bug / mosqiuto spray ready in all the rooms (huge plus!)
Would highly recommend!

Hotel very comfortable and staff very pleasant and attentive. Breakfast plentiful. The dinners in the evening delicious with an interesting menu. The bed very comfortable. A tip would be to setup the breakfast tables outside in the morning, rather than the night before, as several tables had traces of bird droppings.

Dear Hcarte many thanks for your visit and kind review. We do set up the tables on the terrace in the morning for breakfast. As some of the tables are located under our Karee tree, they are always susceptible to the birds, but we try to be on top of this. We will redouble our efforts. Look forward to welcoming you back soon Alasdair

A perfect location for a Tulbagh experience. This hotel is located in the heart of the town between many historical sites, restaurants, bars, cafes and a theatre across the road. The hotels restaurant "Olive Terrace" is one of my favs in the area. The hotel has COVID protocols in place and the staff are well trained around these measures.

The staff are absolutely incredible, they are engaging, enthusiastic, hardworking and professional. Many recognized and acknowledge us form our previous stays.

We love experiencing your different rooms, each one has its unique character and a common thread of luxury. The pool is of a good standard, highly maintained and offers great food and beverage services while lounging at the pool.

Absolutely love this Gem of a place in the Tulbagh region!

An incredible 3 nights spent at Tulbagh Hotel. They are warm, friendly, accommodating, and genuinely happy to have you!
We relocated from another guest house in Wellington (a horrible experience) to The Tulbagh Boutique Hotel, we could not be happier that we did. We were two families with four children ranging from 16 months to 10, the staff were so accommodating of all our needs. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are wonderfully appointed and extremely comfortable though I’m pretty sure if there was something extra you needed they’d not hesitate to accommodate you if they could.
Their in-house restaurant, Olive Terrace is also wonderful, the food was fresh and delicious and much of it locally sourced.
Close to all the wine farms too... always a bonus and the Olive Farm.
Thank you for a wonderful start to 2020, we will most definitely be back!

We booked the honeymoon suite for the weekend. From the moment we arrived we were blown away by the fantastic staff and BEAUTIFUL room. The fireplace in the bathroom was one of the many highlights of our room. Every little attention to detail made our stay even more special. Well done to the owner, manager and staff. You have perfected the ultimate hotel experience. We asked to have breakfast in our room as the fireplace is so cozy and we just absolutely love the space. The staff was SO accommodating and always greats us with the most welcoming smile and nothing is ever a problem. We will most certainly be back soon! Thank you so much for a fantastic experience 👏👏👏

Our first visit, having stayed at Tarentaal for a few years. Those owners had moved so we tried a different venue. We weren't disappointed. Very friendly staff. Couldn't have been more helpful as my husband had to use a wheelchair for the duration of our stay there. They moved us to one of the annexe rooms across the road (accessible) and they built ramps so he could access the pool. The car guard helped keep the entrance clear for us. (secure parking nearby) They also brought his breakfast to our room. Beautiful indoor dining room as well as the terrace and a wide range of food for all tastes. The Trident spa next door was handy for a good quality massage. It was pleasantly quiet considering the size of the hotel.

Following recommendations from friends and colleagues, we decided to explore Tulbagh, our first proper visit there. The hotel, a historical building has been completely revamped to a standard higher than most other hotels, with a lot of attention to detail. Double glazed windows in the rooms facing the road, a drawer with an assortment of coffees and tees I have not seen before. The personnel are friendly, attentive and team work kid exemplary. For example, where do you see the hotel manager bringing out the breakfast as the waitress was busy.
I digress, this historical town has lots to offer and I highly recommend the hotel with old school hospitality in a completely tastefully revamped building. Lastly, I need to mention the restaurant, with creative meals you won’t find in a hurry again. Not your your average country restaurant, you will be challenged out of your comfort zone into a culinary experience you will not forget.

We stayed overnight in one of the outside rooms not in the main building of the hotel, and the room was quiet and the bed comfortable. The bathroom shower had plenty of hot water and I did not need a science degree to work out the shower controls. Also a nice selection of soaps which Gfriend liked. Had dinner in the restaurant and found the choice and prices very reasonable. We were told breakfast was included in the rate quoted and so I was expecting a very basic breakfast with anything more costing extra. Pleasant surprise. We were told we could eat whatever we liked and as much as we liked, so we did just that. Would certainly stay there again. We were staying as an overnight stop on our way to somewhere else, so I don't know what Tulbagh would be like as a destination in itself altho' i believe tis popular with the Cape Town crowd.
